Garrett gets hiccups ALL the time!  He had a terribly fussy night last night.  After his 1:30 AM feeding he would not go back to sleep.  He was either wide awake or fussing.  We thought he was still hungry, but he wouldn't nurse of take a bottle.  We kept trying to get burps to no avail.  He would fall asleep while we held him, but would wake up when we put him down.  This went on until 4 AM.  Finally, I got a  big burp out of him and he settled down.  We were exhausted!  Garrett had a quiet day.

Garrett did pretty good during the night but stayed somewhat fussy after his 5 AM feeding.

I laid beside him in the bed this morning and called his name and he turned his head to the side and looked at me!  He is really strong and easily holds his head up when on your shoulder.

He slept for a good while during the day.  Got the first "gas" smile today.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  Garrett had a pretty good night last night.  He is still going an average of 2-2.5 hrs. between feedings.  We had a good morning.  Garrett stayed awake from 12:30 PM to 4 PM!

Garrett was pretty fussy during the night last night.  I feel like he might be constipated.  He is definitely starting to spit up and I think he has reflux episodes...  Around 5-6 AM he just started screaming in pain.  He was miserable all morning until around noon.

Garrett's two week checkup was today.  He weighs 8 lbs. 4 oz. and is 21.5 inches long.  I told the doctor that he was showing signs of reflux.  She gave me a prescription for Zantac for me to have on hand.  Well, anyone who has read Riley's story knows how I feel about Zantac.  I begged her to go ahead and start with Prilosec.  She explained that the insurance company would not pay for Prilosec unless Zantac was tried first.  I have always wondered why the doctors insist on starting with Zantac.  I thought maybe because it was "milder" than the others, but now I realize there are other factors involved...

The doctor did an "internal" exam and said he was not constipated.  Garrett finally had a BM when we got home and that seemed to make him more comfortable.  I think the "exam" helped.

I put him in the swing tonight and he seemed to like it.  He just couldn't stay asleep in it.

Garrett just went hysterical again around 5-6 AM.  Just blood-curdling screams.  Nothing helped.  He ended up having a comfortable day and slept really well.

Garrett had a meltdown again this morning between the hours of 5:30 AM and 8:30 AM.  He woke up his older brother.  I never thought I would worry more about Garrett waking Riley up than the other way around!  He is still spitting up regularly, but I still think he's having trouble having a BM.

I went ahead and got the prescription for Zantac filled so it would be established.  I knew I needed to have it registered with the insurance if I wanted a shot at Prilosec.  I didn't plan on using it though.

Garrett slept well in the evening and during the night.  He slept for 3.5 hours at one point.
