Well, I've decided that this will be my last entry in Garrett's journal.  I don't have much else to contribute.  I thought I would start this journal to document the awful reflux story he would have, but luckily, his reflux did not end up being as bad as Riley's was.

Don't get me wrong - the beginning was TOUGH!  But I think once Garrett started sleeping on his tummy on the apnea monitor - most of his problems were solved.

And he still has his moments.  He still has times when a lingering burp or stubborn gas makes him scream so loud it sends chills up my spine!  And sometimes I wonder about his throat.  He will sometimes act like it's bothering him, so I find myself questioning whether he needs to be back on the Prilosec.

And napping?  What naps!?  He is a power-napper just like Riley was.  A good 20-30 minutes ( if even that long ) and BOOP!  The eyes pop wide open and he's done.

But he is sleeping so well at night, so I guess if I had to pick...  Friday night he slept from 9:30 PM to 6 AM!  He went back to his 4 AM feeding the next night, but maybe we're getting closer to a full night's sleep!

He is still on Nutramigen and eats about 4 oz. every 2.5-3 hours.  We will probably bump him up a half ounce pretty soon because he is starting to drain his bottles.

He gets Levsin drops about twice a day and occasionally gets Gaviscon.  I don't give it to him as regularly as I did with Riley.  And I will give him a few drops of Mylicon at night when he goes down to get him to keep his pacifier in which helps him go to sleep.

He is still sleeping on his Tucker wedge/ Tucker sling, on his tummy, hooked up to the apnea monitor, in his crib.  I think he likes the peace and quiet!  His older brother's racket may keep him awake during the day, but even when it's quiet sometimes, he still doesn't sleep long.

I am trying out a new swaddling blanket to see if it will help him sleep longer, better or just keep him happy during the day for a period of time without me holding him.  I will let you all know what I think.

Garrett smiles SO big and often and has even started to laugh and "talk".  We will hit the magical 3-month milestone next week, so I'm hoping our story will only get better from here.

As always, I wish each and every one of you good luck in finding the solution for your baby.  You just have to be strong and hang in there.  It will get better.  Just keep working at it!

If any of you ever have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me.  And be sure and take advantage of the message boards on the site.  There are lots of mommies who are willing to help!

I am thinking about starting a page for Riley and Garrett just to keep everyone posted as new things happen, so check back for that!

God bless you and your families,

Karen
