Adam's Story

Karen,

Thank you so much for sharing your son's story--esp. in so much
detail! It has been very helpful to me. My son Adam (9 weeks) has reflux
and some gigantic protein sensitivity--he can't tolerate Nutramigen and
takes Neocate, which you have order from the pharmacy and which costs about
700 dollars a month (I'm not joking.) It runs through him like water!

He is also taking the Prilosec--half a capsule in applesauce once a day. It
does seem to help a good bit.

My question is about the Gaviscon. When we went to the peds GE doc, I was
surprised they didn't mention his gas since it seems like to me that is the
source of his pain. It rolls through his body like a truck and he cries and
cries. It usually starts up about 2 hours after feeding. So, how does the
Gaviscon work and how much should I try? I saw it in the pharmacy--looks
like a grown up antacid. The Myelicon is a hoax. . . it does NOTHING for my
son. I think if we could take care of some of the gas, we'd be good.

Again, thank you for sharing your story. it is so frustrating that the docs
themselves don't know that much about these infant digestive problems. . .
it is great to have a way to get the word out to other parents!

Sincerely,

Kim
