Okay...So, here we are again dealing w/more teething issues.  Averi is 18.5 months old and is cutting her 2yr molars.  Both of the bottoms seemed to have popped through(barely).  Now she's been fussy again for about 4 days & I think it's her uppers.  This is the thing...when she teethed her bottom molars she was teething for almost a month straight before either one popped through.  When this was happening her GI said I could give her tylenol/motrin every single night for an unlimited amount of time(as long as it was no more than 2 doses/day).  So, for that month(I'd say), I did just that.  She seemed to do fine, it helped her sleep.  But now, only a week after she had recovered from her bottom molars, she's getting the uppers.  Doesn't that seem like WAY too much medicine?  Am I really "ok" giving her tyl/motrin every single night until I know the teeth have popped through?  Ugh, it makes me nervous...especially since she just went through a month straight of tyl @ night, now another month?  HELP!!!  I plan on asking her Ped on Mon, but I thought in the meantime you all might be able to shed some light. :)  Also, this go round the tyl doesn't seem to be helping w/the pain.  She has been up several times/night for the past 2 nights.  Any thoughts/suggestions?!  TIA!!!

It is okay as the doc said. As long as you aren't giving the max dose (round the clock) you should be fine. I would try motrin (it works better for us and lasts longer) and Maybe try to alternate... tylenol 1 night then motrin the next. I am married to a pharmacist and I have asked him this question many times! Also have you tried rubbing some benadryl on her gums? maybe hard to get back there if she is really in lots of pain but might be worth a shot.

Thanks Beth!  I feel so much better. :)  I think I will alternate, hopefully that helps(or atleast I can see if motrin works better for her).  I haven't done benadryl this time around.  I have in the past & didn't notice any difference.  Who knows, this time it might help.  I have some on hand, so I'll give it a shot.  I can't wait for these last 2 teeth!!! :):):)  Congrats on baby #2!!!  Thanks again :)
