Put City and State at the top of your post, pleaseSmile

Hi everyone,

I thought I'd start a thread where we can we can recommend, rant, rave and forewarn about all kinds of doctors, not 'just' ped GIs...

I imagine most will be ped specialists, but if you have others, for adults, then why not list them, too?

Thanks!
~laura

Dr. Laura Ment - Yale New Haven (CT) - Pediatric Neurology
Dr. David Karas - Madison, CT - Pediatric ENT
Dr. Robert Greenstein - UCONN (west hartford, CT) - Pediatric Genetics
Dr. Fayhee - Yale New Haven (CT) - Cardiology
Dr. Scott Rivkees - Yale New Haven (CT) - Pediatric Endocrynology
Dr. Regina Palazzo - Guilford, CT - Pediatric Pulmonology

OK, and I am sure there are more, but these are just the ones we see now!!!!!!  we have been discharged from Cardiology and Immunology and just see ENT as needed, but the rest is probably the best team I could ask for.  Anyone that would like more information on any of them, please let me know and I would be more than happy to answer any questions......

Thanks!

Central Virginia:

Ped: Morgan Mandeville - Lynchburg
ENT: Andrea Kittrel - Lynchburg
Endocrinologist: Alan Kauppi - Lynchburg
Ped GI: Michael Hart - Roanoke/Lynchburg

We are so lucky that we have only had to have Cooper see the ped and the ped Gi but the other 2 are great in their fields and well they are friends of mine as well which is always nice! Dr Hart we only saw once but he was fabulous and he comes from Roanoke to Lynchburg which is nice since I didn't have to travel. Our ped... I LOVE her! She is fantastic and she listens... her youngest son was allergic to eggs and is still sensitive to nuts so she has that "understanding" with food allergies as well. I don't think there are many of you all in my area but just in case... I recommend these docs!

What is Pediatric Gastroenterology?
Pediatric gastroenterology is the study and treatment children with disorders of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. A pediatric gastroenterologist is a physician who treats diseases of the digestive organs, including the stomach, esophagus, intestines, pancreas, liver and gallbladder. This specialist treats conditions such as abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, ulcers, diarrhea, cancer in the GI tract, and jaundice in infants, children and adolescents.

Wow.... haven't been on here for a while!!  Cool  That's a mixed blessing!  I miss all the wonderful, supportive women (and Roni) who helped me through one of the most difficult periods of my life.  THANK YOU ALL for your uplifting support when things were very grim.

On a happier note, life does go on after GERD, Eosinophelia, and FPIES!!  I'm happy to say that Eli is now a "normal" six year old boy!!  Well.... normal is a very subjective word, isn't it?  Wink  He CAN eat whatever he'd like... unfortunately the only food he likes is chocolate milk and PB&J !  We do manage to get some healthy food into him, but going three years on a liquid diet brings complications like crossbite and food aversions that make chewing difficult.  SO yes, he's "over" the crisis, but we still deal with the aftermath of  it today.
Anyway.... sorry... I can ramble on...   I'm here to talk about Doctors, right??
Dr. Putnam was INCREDIBLE !  We searched high and low for someone to figure out Eli's problem, and Dr. Putnam did it!  I'd HIGHLY recommend him to anyone who's tried every other route and come up empty handed diagnosis-wise.  Cincinnati Children's was wonderful to us as well.....     Best of luck all... and remember... there is a light at the end of the tunnel... it's just hard to see it when you're exhausted and worried.  All the best~  Tracy

Geisinger Clinic. Danville, PA

The doctor my son and I have seen here is Dr. Mahmoud Sabri
Pediatric Gastroenterologist. I have not been super happy with my infant sons care here and am currently switching to Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia.

I have also gone to the feeding clinic associated with Geisinger at Janet Weis Childrens Hospital with minimal results. No help given regarding my sons allergies to milk and soy. They told me to feed him Pediasure, a milk based drink, as a supplement. This was only one of many things recommended at our visit that went against my sons allergies and feeding issues.
