Hi Ladies
I am so happy to be able to post something that is non reflux related, but sad that I am even having to post at all.
Caroline was 8wks old yesterday. We noticed last Friday that her right eyelid was swollen so we have been watching it. Yesterday it looked redder than usual so I took her into to our ped, had an appt with the nurse practicioner who is a friend but she brought our ped in as well b/c they were concerned. They sent us straight to the eye doctor (the ped specialist is of course on vacation this week) and everyone seems to think it is a hemangioma underneath her eyelid... UGH so we are about to go follow up with the eye doctor again shortly and then will most likely see the ped eye doctor next week. They put her on antibiotics in case it is just an infection but noone seems optimistic that that is the case. If this were on any other part of her body I wouldn't be so worried but she can't open her right eye all the way b/c of the "swelling" and they are concerned that it may affect her vision. I just think that the more people who send up prayers/positive thoughts the better off we will be. I'll keep everyone posted as I find out more.
TIA
Beth

I just wanted to post an update. We saw the pediatric eye doctor yesterday and they are sending us to a oculoplastic surgeon who we see on Tuesday afternoon... 80 miles away! They are pretty sure it is what is called a capillary hemangioma and my guess is it is really affecting her vision since she can barely open her eye now... if I remembered how to post pics here I would... but if you are my "friend" on FB then you have already seen the pics. I am lucky that I have a friend in town (really just someone I was in a volunteer org with) whose 4yr old daughter went through the same thing and her daughter is fine and wears glasses to help correct her vision loss. Hopefully after Tuesday we will know a timeline for action. The child locally had steroids injected into the tumor and they broke it up and I am hoping/praying that is all we have to do as well.. but I think we have to do an MRI to get an official diagnosis to make sure it isn't something worse. So keep praying for us... In an odd way this is just as stressful as reflux but very different.

Just giving another update, Caroline is scheduled for an MRI tomorrow at 3pm. Hopefully all goes well. I don't anticipate knowing much if anything before Monday or Tuesday since it is happening on a Friday. I'll keep you ladies posted.
