Sorry this is so long, hoping somebody has some ideas or advice.

My dd is MSPI and after months has been doing fairly well on just elimating those things from my diet. At her 6 month appt the ped wants us to start solids. I had always planned on starting around then, but wasn't and am still not in a major hurry or anything.

She physically eats just fine, actually seems to love it.
So we gave her rice cereal, homemade. She didn't poop for several days and was completely miserable. Seems that is a common problem for rice cereal, so waited several days for her system to clear and tried sweet potatoes. She screamed for 2 nights straight, and I mean the whole night.

Waited about 2 weeks for me to catch back up on sleep and decided to try again. So we gave her carrots and she only cried for about 1-2 hours before bed. She slept fine the rest of the night. So I figured since it was only before bed and not keeping me up all night, I would do it for a few days and hopefully her system would get used to it. 5 days later and she was still doing the crying at night. Stopped food, no more crying.

Had a dr's appt, she said try again with a green veggie. Well I had been thinking of doing peas next, but she said not to do peas since they are similar to soy beans and might cause a problem. I had heard green beans were closer and not to try those. She said to try the green beans anyway.
So they're now ready in our garden and I am wanting to try them, but I'm scared I will be up again all night with a screaming baby.

I also tried oatmeal, she hated it and wouldn't eat any. The dr said if we can get past green beans to try a fruit then add it to the oatmeal. If not we can set up an appt with a GI.

Anyway, not sure if that is something common or if its just her. And we're only talking 1 tablespoon of food here and how much of that could she be swallowing since half of it ends up all over the place.

Sorry this is so long. I'd appreciate any advice or what I'm doing wrong. I'm also not worried about her needing the food or anything, she's growing fine and my older dd was on bm only for the first year.

I am in the same boat with my LO.  I am so scared to try new foods and cause him any suffering.  We tried oatmeal and millet as cereals, and they were fine at first, but by the fourth day of each, he was much fussier.  Stopped the cereal, and the fussiness stopped.
So far the veggies I have tried that have worked are zucchini and green beans.  We just tried peas and they seem OK as long as he only get a little each day.  Too many peas and he seems to get constipated.  I make his food, so I give him 1 cube of peas mixed with 1 cube of the zucchini or beans, usually at breakfast.  The only other veggie I tried was carrots, and they seemed to make him fussy and spit-up a lot.  I also give him pieces of plain baked potato as a "finger food" once in awhile; again, too much of it seemed to cause some constipation.
As far as fruits so, the only thing he seems to tolerate on a regular basis are pureed prunes!!  I give him pear chunks, cut-up bluberries, and watermelon chunks occasionally as a finger food, maybe 4 little pieces at a time.  Apples, peaches, and apricots did not go over well.  I will try them again next month and we'll see!
Good luck!  I know how scary it is to give them a new food.  I never thought intoducing solids could be so nerve-racking! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!Thumbs%20Up

try avocado mashed up w/ a little breastmilk
same w/ ripe banana

have you tried squash? all kinds (acorn, butternut, yellow, zuccini, etc)

also what worked w/ my second was baby-led weaning (weaning in the European sense/definition of the word, which is introducing solids, not stopping breastfeeding like how 'we' mean it):

here's a post I wrote:

I read this article which states, as I believe, there is no reason to start foods in any particular order: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9646449/

cons of pureees:  http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,21924101-5006007,00.html

I started w/ avocado, banana, sweet potato & pretty much just gave oatmeal or barley cereal sometimes to mix in w/ jarred fruits/veggies (all organic)

I did not introduce proteins until babies are 9 months old- beans, poultry, soy, meat, yogurt, egg yolk, etc

Hang in there! It can sometimes be tough introducing solids to LOs with food allergies. Have you heard of Neocate Nutra? It is similar in consistency to baby cereal but is hypoallergenic and made specifically for children with food allergies. It's a good way to introduce solids and new textures without having to worry about a reaction. It is also a good source of vit. D and calcium. You might also want to check out this blog entry: http://short.ie/vg0n5a . It has some tips on introducing solids that might be helpful. Good luck!

Yes there is light. My daughter is now 28 months and can finally eat pretty much everything. She still breaks out once in awhile, but nothing that seems to bother her.

Is it homemade rice cereal? I just had to check the labels with everything. There was at least soy and dairy in almost everything. So we mostly made everything at home from scratch. I also breast fed so we didn't start solids until closer to a year. But I personally was on a diet of no soy or dairy and it was almost impossible. Although just the 18 months that I did it, they have come out with tons of foods you can eat.

I think we started with oatmeal, then some kind of fruit (apples), then green beans from the garden.
My neighbors son also has it and he didn't get cleared up as fast. He's now down to dairy and eggs, so he's improved. But they also didn't get his allergies figured out right away. He's just over a year. I started noticing it going away around 18 months and by 2 years she's mostly ok.
