![]() Topic: Acid reflux diet or not? other advise??Posted: 09 September 2010 at 4:05am |

My daughter, now 15 years old, was recently diagnosed with Acid reflux. They suspect that she has had it since infancy. They think that her severe colic was actually acid reflux. She was on 7 different kinds of formula as a baby after she couldn't even tolerate my breast milk. Finally survived in ~somewhat~ comfort on alimentum or nutramigen. She is a tiny little thing. Only weighs 95 lbs at 5'8". She NEVER over eats. In fact, I can hardly get her to eat enough. She does eat a lot of tomato based foods and drinks a lot of soda and milk (which we have just cut out since her diagnosis) She is scheduled for a GI work up to check for possible damage on Monday March 5th. They started her on prilosec OTC. We have elevated head of the bed. She was told to cut out a ton of foods; however, I just read on this web site that as of 2006, a study shows cutting out these foods is not helpful and that food is not the root problem???? ************************** Brio Trains | Burts Bees |

Food is not the root of the problem, and cutting out anything will not get rid of it. However certain foods can aggravate the disease such as citrus fruits, coffee, onion, and very spicy foods.
