I am hearing all kinds of rumors as to what is going on with reflux solutions.  Does anyone (Laura) know what is going on for sure?  Thankfully, I still have 7 refills left of my ccmax, but I'm trying to figure out what to do once that is gone.  I've read on other forums that you can use pedialyte with the PPI to give to LO as long as its dosed 30 min before meal.  Is this true?

CCmax has been such a lifesaver for us.  My lo is doing wonderfully on it.  so sad to see this happening :(

Dr. Philips needs our support/help- no more funding from U of Missouri to sell bufferbabies/caracream!!

If you'd like to help by writing a letter how bufferbabies/caracream/zegerid/ Dr. Philips helped you/your lo, then please email Kira at
& let her know.  She's working w/ Dr. Philips & can tell you exactly what it is that you can do!
Also, could you let  me know  (if you want to) when you email her? I'd like to keep track of what's going on, if I can. Thanks!

The U of Missouri is shutting down Reflux Solutions- not sure if this means 'just' no more selling/creating bufferbabies/caracream or if it also means no more research!

I wish we could buy it or fund it or do SOMETHING!

Thanks!

~laura

I know nothing about giving pedialyte, but you can give water w/ the solutab and it does need to be given on an empty stomach, followed by a meal 30 minutes later

you can also get capsules open them up and give the beads w/ a tsp of applesauce- this needs to be given on an empty stomach, followed by a meal 30 minutes later

Thanks Laura. I will definitely do this sometime this week. I'll let you know when I have. Thanks for your help, as always.

Laura - I sent an e-mail to the address you have above for Kira. Anything else I can do? Where do I send a letter?

I can't believe this is happening. Caracream max has been a lifesaver for us. I can give our little guy prevacid but waiting a half hour to feed him is torture for him and us. I only have one packet of caracream left....then we will have to figure something else out. Heartbroken....

but zegerid is the same active ingredient as prilosec, and he's been on prevacid. he's 10 m o at this point, and I hate to change when it has been working like a charm for him. is prilosec to prevacid usually an easy transition? I did see the info on compounding the zegerid with mylanta so it was stable for a week, which would be handy. I just am wary of switching medications. on the other hand, having run out of caracream max and doing the beads in the applesauce was a pain. I saw somewhere that the solutabs are off the market until December? and I can't find info on them online.

I don't think there's much choice?Cry
makig switch from one PPI to another doesn't take time...
but I know what you mean!

you could try and get your pharmacy to compound prevacid if you'll find someone ( doctor to write out the RX very thoroughly and/or pharmacist who will 'humour' you) to compound the prevacid EXACTLY how you want it done...

this stinks!!!

actually, compounding was the first route we tried and it was a miserable failure after 3 days. that's when I went to ccmax. glad to hear that the switch doesn't have a transition time. I have a month's supply left - at least - just tried to drop a dose yesterday, which I'd been meaning to do, but now had the motivation - so we'll see how today goes. and he's about to start walking, so hopefully when that happens, that will lessen his need too. I have a feeling I'll have to go back to the GI and he told me he wanted him entirely off meds by his first b-day (the end of the year). But my pedi said to not even worry about adjusting meds until he was one - just leave things as they were. don't you love when the dr's totally contradict each other!
man, such a bummer.
