I didn't know where to post this so I'm putting here. Okay I tested a few different things using ph strips to test the acidity. This is what I found:

Just in case you don't know 7 is about right in the middle of the acid/alkaline scale. Lower than 7 is acidic & of course the lower the number the more acidic.

First they say to use applesauce or non flavored pedialite to administer otc reflux meds but unflavored pedialyte actually has a high acidity (6-7) & the grape flavor had very low (about 4) just slightly higher than Beechnut applesauce with a ph of 3-4.
This article :
http://www.refluxcookbookblog.com/2011/03/29/water-water-everywhere-but-nothing-left-to-drink/
tells their findings & it mentions unflavored Pedialyte a few paragraphs down under specialty drinks.

Next I was very curious about baby formula & how acidic it is so I tested Similac Alimentum powder & ready made. they came out to be almost the same color, which is what shows you the number level of acidity. The ready made was just slighty darker meaning a higher ph level which I think is very interesting because I know that many babies do better with ready made formula as opposed to the powder.

I bought these ph testing strips on Amazon & they were only about $5. they have come in handy. I have even tested my sons saliva at one time, I was just curious

Here is another great article about different baby foods & how acidic they are-

cool! yes, the otc meds need the acidity somehow to get them activated- that's why we're told to take them w/ a bit of applesauce or pedialyte, evenSmile (on an empty stomach, follwed by a 'meal' 30 minutes later)

[Ok I think that she meant that the unflavored isn't acidic enough & that's why you should use a flavor...]

Yup & that's why I wanted to make sure that whatever I was using to give my son the meds with was truly acidic. So this shows that applesauce is probably the best thing to use but NOT unflavored Pedialyte.

Hello! Unfortunately things are still about the same...no improvement yet. Even with the Tummycare Max but I am continuing to use it because I think it does work but it's just our situation. Lo has been teething (I think) & sick.

I switched from Prevacid to Omeprazole because I thought he was starting to sleep less but now I'm considering switching back. Idk I'm so confused but I can tell you one thing I am determined to figure this thing out

I only saw my current ped GI once so I'm not sure but he doesn't want to increase the dosage I do know that.

Hello! Honestly my lo is getting worse still not better:( We recently found out that we have level 4 toxic mold at our house & I'm wondering if that is causing a lot of this. I noticed on here that many Moms who have kids with reflux ALL their kids have it. Only my son has it which I think might be kind of odd but I could be wrong.

I've been doing a ton of research about baby formula & neurotoxins. I just came across this shocking video (it's pretty short) Shows making infant formula & what goes into it. Watch it!

Did you while pregnant or nursing have antibiotics or did you have a c-section with reflux baby and not other(s)? Or has your reflux child had antibiotics? These things can sometimes be the cause of reflux, for sure when no other family members have digestive problems. I have had other moms question why one child had reflux but not the other and when I ask they often say that they had one or more "of the above".

Just a thought!!

I think in my case it's that my refluxer had an immature LES (lower esophogeal shphinter) - I 'figured this out' because he didn't have mspi symptoms; I did the TED, just in case (I was desperate!), and ruled out reactions to foods (that I was eating - well he DID react to a few things: citrus, eggplant, tomatoes/tomato products & tuna) - the second one I believe wasn't born w/ (such an) immature LES...this is my theory...
