My 3 week old won't sleep. Every time he dozes off he startles and wakes himself. I think he can't get comfortable. We just switched from Axis to Prevacid today, so I know it could take some time to get better, but in the meantime, I don't know what to do to get him to sleep. He so tired, and I feel so bad for him, but I just don't know what to do.

The ONLY thing that works is Putting him in the car seat, no paci, and letting him scream for a few minutes while I drive around. This usually makes him pass out for at least an hour, but I'd really LOVE to find a better solution.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

PLEASE continue w/ the axid, at the highest dose for his weight, as you It Please continue w/ the axid, at the highest dose for weight (how much does babyweigh?), as there may be a 14 day wait for the prevacid to 'kick in' - I learned this the HARD way! It was day 12 for my baby!
you must seperate the doses (axid & prevacid) by 4 hours. otherwise, if you don't continue the axid, then it's as if your baby isn't on any meds at all! the prevacid can take up to 14 days to show it's full effects. and, I hate to be a debbie downer, but there is a strong chance the prevacid dose isn't even high enough...also, it might not be in the proper form!

I CAN'T tell you what to do!

BUT, I've been on this board for NINE YEARS now and I consider myself to be up to date on all the latest research...

YOU must research! YOU must make educated decisions for YOUR baby!
YOU must advocate for your baby!

Yes, I know the feeling!! I agree that swaddling would be a good idea. There are things called Swaddle Pods and Woombies that will make swaddling your baby easy. I bought one of these before I had my last baby but only used it one time because she is a very contented baby that sleeps easily and doesn't struggle from digestive problems. But I sure wish I would've known about them when I had my first 2 children. They had reflux and food intolerances and slept very poorly. It did help them some to be wrapped tight but they wiggled so much from their pain that they didn't stay wrapped up very long. I think the swaddle pod would've helped a lot.
