If you cook, just substitute “safe” margarine for butter and “safe” milk for regular and voila! The basic thing to remember is that you can have all fruits and veggies; most meat, poultry and fish preparations (obviously without cheese or cream sauces); not many sweet baked goods (muffins, cakes, etc.); some plain baked goods (bagels, wheat bread); few desserts (maybe some fruit-based). So concentrate on the fruits/veg. and you'll be fine. And here’s a list of ingredients to avoid while on a milk free diet: artificial butter flavor butter butter fat butter oil buttermilk casein (casein hydrosylate) Caseinates (in all forms) Cheese Cream Cottage cheese Curds Custard Ghee Half & Half Lactalbumin Lactalbumin phosphate Lactoferrin Lactulose Milk (in all forms including condensed, derivative, dry, evaporated, goat’smilk, and milk for other animals, low-fat, malted, milkfat, non-fat, powder, protein, skimmed, solids, whole). Nougat Naturlose (sweetener derived from whey) Pudding Rennet casein Sour cream Sour cream solids Sour milk solids Tagatose (sweetener derived from whey) Whey (in all forms) Yogurt According to FAAN, These products DO NOT contain milk: Calcium Lactate Calcium Stearoyl Lactylate Cocoa Butter Cream of Tarter Lactic Acid (however, lactic acid starter culture may contain milk) Oleoresin Sodium lactate Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate Keep in mind that derivatives can be hidden in some unsuspecting places (ie., Hylands Teething Tablets, Trident gum, brown sugar flavoring, canned tuna, some vitamins, some deli meats, some toothpastes, some soap products, etc.) so it is crucial to read every label. |

I literally have about four copies, one at home, in the car, my purse and the office and I am always reading it to get new ideas. I picked up several of the Hormel and other little things in the small 7 oz containers. If it makes you feel any better, last night Jack threw ALL of his food which ended up either in the dog's mouth or on the dog's back. The dog has never eaten so well!! I told DH that I really enjoyed spending about 30 minutes putting together a meal so the dog could eat it! Jack ended up eating watermelon, baked apples, Ritz and about 2 peas! And, yesterday he loved the chix and dumplings and today his day care note said "Jack did not care for the chix and dumplings". Go figure!! I am not going to get the nutrition of the year award. See if you can find Road's End dairy free mac and cheese shells. Jack loves them. If you can't, let me know and I can send you a few boxes.

Jennifer ~ Are you feeding him baby food in addition to the table foods or no? I'm tempted to just give her the regular mac and cheese and make it with rice milk and margarine. I did see that there is a health foods store close to me that carries the road's end foods. Maybe I'll get some... Hey your ticker is not working... |

I picked up some of these items in the grocery store and read the labels and they contain soybean oil. Is this list a milk free list only? I am confused. (Doesn't take much these days.) Thanks Brenda |

Brenda: This list is dairy free and does contain many foods with soy oil. Soy oil is a fat and many MSPI babies are not bothered by it at all (Jack is very allergic to cow's milk protein but has no problems with soy oils/fats). There have been some threads on this here, you may want to do a search and see if they survived the hacker.
