Christine,
I am humbled in reading your message.  I can hardly handle two children most of the time, I honestly don't know how you do it.  Your children sound amazing.

Hailey-05/05- My funny little girl. 4 years old, but still my baby.

Good thread!

Where to start... so many things have happened lately.

We got back from Kennedy Krieger about a month ago. Matthew was sick for a while but is back to eating what he was eating at KKI, so we are doing pretty well. This boy loves cheese and chocolate milk... he would be happy to only be fed that at every meal. Have not used his tube in what... maybe 7 or 8months? we will leave it in this winter and if he continues to do well, it will be coming out next spring!!
Found a great speech therapist that confirmed he has dysarthria -- which is a neurological condition that affects muscle - ie it is really low muscle tone and muscle weakness... so we are starting a treatment program to treat it for both feeding and speech and looking for a therapist able to implement it. He is doing amazing regardless and is the sweetest, cuddliest and best behaved little kid around LOL... never ever complains, never cries and sleeps really well these days!! He even asks to go na-na (which is night night) after dinner most nights... His stomach si still producing a ton of acid... they were amazed at KKI and now we have zantac to supplement should we need it.

I am now 22 weeks... with a BOY!!Shocked We have a scare a while back but everything is back to normal we hope. Matthew's GI is wonderful and will take care of this kid from day 1. We are starting with either Alimentum or Neocate and the GI will be ready to do some tests right after the baby is born if we notice any little thing (we are hoping not)... the GI is hoping to catch anything really early... and even talks to my belly asking the baby to be good LOL. we will also do a speech eval hopefully by one of the people that treat preemies in the hospital... with Matthew's current muscle weakness, the speech therapist thinks that someone should have noticed this at birth... it would have been pretty evident because he was unable to breastfeed (i learned a lot about what type of suck you need to breastfeed vs bottle feed, which is pretty different)... so hopefully if there is some weakness we can start treating it straight away.

Ok... i think that is it? been really busy - nice to see everyone's updates

Hi everyone!  Lucas and I were at my parents house for two months this summer and no internet....I missed seeing all of you!  Lucas is nearly three, mostly reflux symptom free, but on 40mg of zegerid each day to keep it that way.  He's getting his last two teeth and still waking on average once a night, but so much better than it used to be!!  He is still off dairy, soy, gluten and beef and a host of highly acidic foods (but we've given a few of these in small doses and he's been okay-- like a bit of orange juice or some tomato).  I really got crazy and gave him a few bites of homemade dairy ice cream recently and those few bites didn't seem to affect him.  We're waiting on the teeth to do formal food trials.  He LOVES to talk, is very inquisitive and a normal fun great little boy to be around.  He went to a preschool program at our local community college's child development center last year and this fall starts going four mornings a week and I go one morning with him.

I think I must be going insane but I'm actually thinking of having another child...???  Have I LOST my mind?  Wacko  I've only been sleeping since late April (my definition of "sleeping" is only waking once and sometimes -- maybe twice a week-- making it the whole night with no wakings).

We hope everyone is well and it's great to see everyone's update!

Wow -- it's great to read so many updates from people!  I haven't logged onto the forum for months and wasn't sure where to start, so it was nice to *see* so many familiar *faces* here!

Palmer's doing really well.  He's still as big and as athletic as ever.  He never stops growing -- at 43" tall now and not quite 4 years old.  But unfortunately his weight is still at only 36 lbs.  His ped is talking about increasing his prevacid to 30mg/day if his weight isn't up by his 4 yr appointment, but I really don't want to do that.  He eats a lot (says he's hungry & eats 6-8 times a day), but he's constantly on the run & I just think he has really high metabolism.  He loves his preschool, and is still totally into sports.  He played t-ball & basketball for parks & rec, but he'll have to move up to the 5-6 year old league next year (even though he'll only be 4) because his skill level is so advanced.  Besides that he's as fun and playful as ever!

I've loved staying home with Palmer since we moved to Indiana in January.  Sometimes I miss my work and the challenge of the classroom -- and I definitely miss my great colleagues, but the rewards of being more involved in Palmer's development more than balance that.  We've had our ups and downs of course, but all in all it's been a great year!
Christine -- mom of silly boy Palmer, 1/2/04 (on meds: prevacid 15mg/day, allegra, nasonex, miralax -- but all no big deal)! My growing, athletic, love of my life (besides dh Todd of course)

christine, i have thought about you a number of times---but i didn't know what had happened to your e-mail address.  i have wondered how the celiac diet is going for you.  it is good to hear that palmer is doing so well.   sylvia is about as wild as a march hare.  she turned 4 in october and still only weighs about 35 lbs and is just barely over 39 inches tall.  i keep worrying that she might have celiac like the other kids-----especially with the enamel problems with her teeth.  she also seems to have circles under her eyes these days.  it is time to test the other kids blood levels again---so i think i need to test sylvia again.  now that she is over 4, the test should be more accurate than when she was younger.

we have just moved into a large house with 6 bedrooms and a large family room----it is nice to have more space for the kids to spread out.

Thanks for all the great hellos Kim, Ann Marie, Christine, and Laura!!  I can't believe that most our little kids are already (or almost) 4!  I hope everyone had a wonderful and happy holiday!

Christine -- Sylvia's weight seems pretty good for her height, but I definitely understand your concern about weight and about celiac.  I haven't been great about the diet and I know that I need to do better.  Generally I feel pretty good just doing a mix of grains, but I'm sure I could cut out a lot of my sinus/cold issues if I went cold turkey on gluten.  I'd love to "talk" with you more off forum.  The best email address for me these days is attached to my profile.  If you can't get me through that let me know here.  Congratuations by the way on the bigger house!  It must be nice having more room for everyone.
