There's not much action on this board right now (it comes & goes), but you can learn from past posters. what happens is, people find this board when they're desperate and then they start researching & advocating for their babies & then things start improving & then they leave the board.
There is so much knowledge stored here. Peruse this forum (the medicine forum) & also use the search function. the search button is located in the upper right-hand corner of the page. Do a few searches & search "all forums" (or just "medicines") and use different keywords in your searches (like do a search for prilosec and do one for prevacid and do one for nexium and you can also search for zegerid - there was a time when zegerid was very popular) - also search 6 months and OLDER so you can learn from past posters...
anyway, it's the solutabs, not all forms of prevacid, that contain some lactose and, lactose, in general, is usually not an issue because breastmilk has a lot of lactose. lactose is milk SUGAR and what babies react to is milk PROTEIN. But, anything is possible and it could be the aspertame in the solutabs that babies react to. Or maybe it IS the lactose? who knows?
what you can do now, is to buy the capsules and start right now giving the beads from the capsules to your baby and see how he reacts. even the most sensitive babies seem to be fine w/ the beads (given on an empty stomach, followed by a 'meal' 30 minutes later- the beads need to be given w/ a teaspoon of applesauce- this sounds impossible w/ an infant, but you use your finger and the beads & the applesauce & you use a few skinny, 1ml syringes of water to wash it down...you can also use pedialyte - looks like you should use flavored pedialyte: http://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=15122&KW=pedialyte - http://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=15122&KW=pedialyte )
