I decided we needed a thread to share all the cute things our babies do. I have loved reading about the dogs and babies and Jonah not signing and all the other things that bring a smile to my face, so I thought we should keep this thread going every time they do something cute (then we can record it in their baby books later ).
So I will start: do you know those books with the sound effects? You know you read the book and there are prompts for pushing the buttons on the right side of the book. Well, we have several and one is Clifford. Sean has discovered that if it's on the floor, he can walk across it, and make some of the sound effects happen. He gets the BIGGEST grin on his face when Clifford starts barking - he'll start making an "awk, awk" sound trying to imitate it.
OK, your turn, please share!

OK, I was picking up toys in the playroom that is right off the kitchen. I turned around and saw Dylan standing in the middle of my kitchen table squealing and laughing!!!!
Needless to say, we have no more chairs in our kitchen! Little by little we just keep removing the furniture..........

Ashtyn has many but the one that comes to mind is yesterday.
She was very tired for her nap & as I was trying to rock her a bit to help her wind down I was humming to her. As she starts to nod off I usuallu start to "shush" her song to her. Well yesterday she was fighting this nap like crazy even though she was exhausted. I was getting frustrated but not letting her see that I was. Well, her eyes were starting to get heavy & then I started "shushing" her song to her & her eyes popped wide open & she started laughing uncontrollably. I couldn't figure out why she as laughing & then I shushed again & she cracked up again. It was all I could do to keep from cracking up too. Needless to say, I didn't finish her song by "shushing" it to her.

hannah was dancing in her stationery entertainer (she's a big reggae fan)...and along came lilydog. lily was wagging her tail in hannah's face, and hannah who is teething fervently will bite almost everything and anything reached with both hands trying to grab the wagging tail with her mouth open the whole time.
that, and i think some of you already know, she does already know how to bark. erf, erf, erf...
lizzie: thanks for this idea, really makes me feel good to see everyone's cute stories.

While in the exersaucer, Sean will grab the cat's tail as she passes by. She will screech and 2 minutes later, she'll be right up next to the exersaucer again with her tail within grasping range - these cats can't have brains any larger than a peanut, I swear.
Sherry, it's so hard sometimes to keep from laughing at those inappropriate times!

These are funny! And, yes Elizabeth, I agree with the boy/climbing thing!
Another funny one is when Dylan tries to give Cody (our lab mix) his rubber bone and forgets to let go as Cody is dragging him on the wood floor!
OH, and our first experience with a head strong toddler.... David (my husband) and I were in Staples. Dylan was squirming to get out of my husbands hands, so he put Dylan down. I grabbed Dylan's hand because he is a fast runner, and Dylan turned and bit my hand so I would let go and set him free!
Gotta Love when they start acting like "normal" kids!!!

sylvia loves music----we have a kids cd that we play. whenever the first song starts (erie canal) she does what i call rock-a-baby. she rocks back and forth on her hands and knees. she also does rock-a-baby when she is happy sometimes.
today i was sitting in the chair with my toes hanging over. she crawled over, pulled herself up and started biting my toes.

What a great forum Lizzie! Thanks!
Palmer is really into wastebaskets lately -- he particularly likes the tin Mickey Mouse one we have in the living room for when we change him downstairs. Strange I know. Just this morning he crawled across the room to it (YEAH...he started crawling over the weekend...such a big guy for 6 1/2 months), and pulled the bag out of it. He then proceeded to start piling the dog's toys into it. So the dog would take one out and set it in front of Palmer...Palmer would put it back in...etc. All the while the two were just grinning at each other (I'm sure those of you who have dogs know that they can surely grin)!

tooo cute!!!
well jonah finally got the concept of the word "IN" very recently...he would take things OUT but didn't really spend much time putting items IN to containers, etc. it is so amazing to see something 'click' when they finally 'get' a concept...so jonah finally 'gets' the concept of IN & will put something IN something else if you ask him too. well, he's a little later than palmer, lol, but I found an assortment of objects in the office waste paper basket (where the computer is): his pacifier, a ball, etc. Well, he's proved that he understands IN !
it helps when he's eating food off of his tray- i see him about to dump something on the floor & I say, " that goes IN your mouth" & in it goes...
by 10 months he was doing all the 'activities' in the Pat the Bunny book (all except for the waving bye-bye- still doesn't do that...) including putting the book up to his nose for the 'smell the flowers' page. too cute!!
he dances to the leapfrog activity table...oh! and I once put a pacifier in the little 'open'/'close' compartment (same table) to suprise him & now I see him putting his pacifier IN there ...
he just now figured out how to 'swish' air/spit in the front of his mouth- not sure if this makes sense...
I'll think of more, I'm sure!

Laura--we LOVE the leapfrog activity table around here. Palmer pulls himself up on it, spins the thing for the 'abc' song and bounces up and down to the music -- holding on to the table of course. (he loves to dance). He also loves the 'be-bop' of the open/close part when it's on the jazz page. I love that Jonah does the 'Pat the Bunny' book...I can't wait for Palmer to do that. BTW my dh has been working with Palmer on the putting things 'in' thing for a couple of months...setting his beach bucket in front of him and showing him how to put toys in front of it. He was also fascinated when oma -- my mom -- had out the old fashioned activity ball (with shapes cut out that you put into it) and he kept handing her things to put in it.

okay I got one!
My 21 mth old daughter is getting ready to potty train I think. She refuses to leave her diaper on. Well last night I put her to bed in her crib and she had pajamas on so I didnt think she could get it off. Well usually the kids wake me at 8 am but I woke up at 8:30 and kind of got worried because I didnt hear Kaylee saying mommy let me out!lol (my wake up call) I went to check on her and low and behold she got the pajamas off and the diaper and was covered head to toe with her own feces. disgusting I know. It was everywhere. on her face, hands under her nails, in between her toes. I actually had to wash her hair twice! I was horrified untill I tried to tell my mother on the phone and then I couldnt quit laughing!

Just wanted to share with you! Sean is WALKING! He snuck it in on us. He has been doing a ton of cruising, and probably took a few first steps between furniture in the last week. Well today he walked across the kitchen floor. It's funny, he looks like a ball in a pinball machine bouncing between each piece of furniture (as well as looking like a sailor trying to find his land legs).
The park will be much more fun now, he won't get so frustrated sitting in the stroller.

CJ has the funniest smile. He sticks his tongue out when he smiles. In fact at Sears they have a picture of him doing it on display. Of course his 3 dimples- one in each cheek and his chin- help the cuteness!
When Emily was trying to go potty the other day CJ flushed the toliet on her. Needless to say he was very proud of himself and Emily wasnt sure what to think! It was hilarious!

Well, Ashtyn just started crawling & pulling up to things a couple weeks ago. She learned how to do both in the same day.
The cute thing is that when she gets to our hardwood floors or tile floors, I guess she doesn't like the way they feel on her knees as she changes her crawl to where she is on her butt & scoots sitting up & uses one foot like a paddle on a paddleboat to move her along. She hits the carpet again & off she goes crawling. She also learned how to climb stairs 2 days after learning to crawl. Yikes!!!
By the way, Ashtyn has a dimle in her chin too. She taks after dad. That is abot the only thing she got from dad, otherwise she looks exactly like me at that age!

ashtyn sounds like a real lady!
all these crawlers and walkers. what a blast!
i have another one...let me start by saying hannah is an extremely active girl! and a ham. in the bathtub she is ten times more active and hammy...she likes to do a very advanced breaststroke kick which sends water everywhere. last nite she decided to throw her sholders into it (like sholder lifts). her own little water aerboics class! so everytime she would go crazy kicking and lifting her sholders, she'd pause and look at me all grinning and out of breath and then continue. i was laughing so hard, i could hardly stand, and before i knew it, she was cracking up too!
it was a perfect moment in the midst of some very not so perfect days!

This is a great topic. I think Miranda is comedian at heart, she keeps me laughing constantly.
On Monday we went to the mall and she was really tired so I put her in
the babby bjorn hoping she'd fall asleep. After a few stores she
started getting restless and arching to get out, so I took off the baby
bjorn and started carrying her. As soon as her head was on my
sholder she started raspberrying my neck, loudly. I can't help
myself when she does that, so I just started raspberrying her back,
which of course sents her into a sqealing fit. I'm sure we looked
like quite the pair.

I wanted to bring this topic up again cause in just a few months our babies have gotten older/wiser & doing much more cute things! I love hearing about them.
Well, for the longest time Ashtyn has just been saying mama, dada, baba, nana. I think now she can say kitty but it comes out "gey" (like key but with a g). I didn't think mch of it except she only says it when she is with the cat & she looks up & says "gey".
The other thinh is that if she is playing in a room with me & the cat is comin & meowing she makes this loud/weird noise. I think she is trying to imitate the cat's meow but it comes out like a cat in heat or something.
Anyway, she does a thousand other cute things but this is her latest.

that is hysterical! i love stories about babies and animals!
i have one too. i think i shared a few months ago that hannah "barks." she barks at the dog, barks when she sees a dog, and barks to get the dogs attention. (thankfully, the dog is in love with hannah also). since she started to crawl, she will crawl around and bark. if we crawl around with her and bark, she barks back. yesterday i was crawling around with her and i asked her if she wanted to chase the cats. well, she went flying off after them and barking. so, jeff and i are convinced she may think she is a dog. incidently, her first word was "dog," followed by "good girl," then "mama/ dada," and "cat." lately she is trying to say "doggy" or is it "daddy"? same difference.

Sherry and Becky -- this is too funny, I was laughing out loud picturing Ashtyn sounding like a cat in heat and Hannah and parents barking and chasing cats.
Palmer's first non-parental word is also an animal one -- doggy. Actually it comes out 'goggy' and we didn't realize what he was saying it until one day we suddenly noticed he only says it when Rosie comes in the room, or when he is holding his hand over the highchair calling her to come over (and she of course comes)!
I'm having a hard time coming up with other cute things right now, as observing him these days sends me into fits of worry (the clumsiness of being an early walker sends the parental worry-scale off the charts. Just received another call from daycare that he tripped because of trying to go too fast and got a knot on the side of his head).

I've never really had anything to put on this post, but I think I have a couple things now. Caden loves to kick his right leg. He will kick it as hard as he can, but if you hold on to it and don't let him kick, he actually squeals because he gets mad! You have to know this show of emotion is huge for him!! The other day I held onto it, he squealed at me, then clapped his hands together (at midline!!) really hard. It was his "little temper tantrum!" I know they usually aren't anything to get excited about, but for Caden it is great! He is also laughing and smiling so much more the past week since we atarted the Prevacid again.
Your stories are all so cute! I can picture them all and just laugh out loud!

O.K, here's one of Colin's. Since Colin was a baby, I used to sing an old french children's song (Au claire de la lune for those of you that might speak French) to put him to sleep ... actually my mom started that, and I continued it.
Well, we stopped that at around 3 months since he's on a regular sleeping through the night schedule with no issues.
Well, I finally put together a full cd with French songs for children when I was back home this summer. We were in the car driving to the mall a couple of weekends ago, and Colin was getting really fussy and whiny, as he normally does in his car seat. I put that CD in for the first time, and the first song on there was 'au claire ...', he instantly stopped whining, started looking around, and what do you know, 30 seconds later was sounds asleep. That's about 5 months since we last sang this song for him, go figure.
Now anytime I play this CD, it always calms him down, don;t know what it is about the French songs that does that for him but I'm glad.
BTW, if anyone is interested in a copy of this CD just for variety, it's really cute, I would be more than happy to make you a copy and send it to you, just let me know. I've already made about 5 copies for some friends who love it, even though they don't speak French. I just wanted to expose Colin to different languages early on as I was.

Okay, here's one more.......thanks for reminding me Rony! Caden actually has 2 CD's that have his name in them. One is Christian songs and the other is play songs. We started playing the Christian one for him in the car first. The first lady starts out and says, "Caden! Hi there! How are you?" and so on. After about a week of playing it everytime we werre in the car, Caden smiles the biggest smile you have ever seen when he hears her yell his name! Now we've started the play songs. Both CD's calm him in the car. I love them. I have posted a link if anyone is interested in them. I can get you the song titles if you'd like. They are so cute and say the child's name LOTS of times in every song.
