I appreciate all the help I had in my previous post about buddy’s Ph probe. We have now completed the gastric emptying test, and all I am told so far, is he emptied 28% at one hour of liquids. Anyone know what this means? He is 13 mos.
We are going to see the doctor tomorrow to find out what it means..thanks so much..I think its borderline, and babies should empty 32%-64% by one hour. But I could be way off. I learned there are so many factors (the liquid type, the liquid amount, the baby’s demeanor), that its not always straight forward..hope to learn tomorrow! Thanks again!
Thanks so much again. We did see dr and he is starting EES (erythromycin) to help motility. She expected he would empty 50% at an hour and he emptied 24%. Hope the medications help.
I am so amazed at how often erythromycin is prescribed to help with motility. It seems so opposite of what should be done. Erythromycin is an antibiotic. It may help for a short time because it irritates the stomach and makes it “move”. But it can also make things get worse over time.
I know that earlier you talked of trying some kind of probiotics and enzymes. Did they help and what kind did you try?
