I need advice about weaning my almost 4 year off

Prevacid. Every time I’ve ever tried to wean him off he’s fine for a month or so and then starts the night time coughing and hoarse voices. I always assumed his reflux was still there and put him back on Prevacid. After getting a bug up my butt I started googling about it and what I really think the problem was all along is rebound effect from the withdrawal. Can anyone help direct me how to successfully get him off it? He’s on one 15mg Prevacid solutab every night. Almost 4 years old and has been on it since he was 3 weeks old or so. For the last two nights we’ve only given him half a tablet…

that’s a good way to go – 1/2 a tablet for a week then try an third and see how that goes, if it goes well, then give the 1/3 every other night for a week and then every other other and then you should be good –

when he’s off of the prevacid, you can still give tums here and there or zantac, even…

Thank you!! So far he’s acting ok I just don’t want to cause harm but I do believe he’s outgrown the reflux and that when we try and get off its just the rebound acid rearing its ugly head. My I wish I would have know about this forum years ago when I was up all night with screaming babies!! I felt like I was all alone in the world at that time!

how did you find what worked?

did you go to a ped GI?

was it reflux? silent reflux? was there Sandifers?

was there protein intolerance/MSPI special diet or formula?

what meds worked? at what doses? did you follow higher dosing?

any baby products that were fabulous? a brand of bottle or a seat like a fisher price rock-n-play or whatnot?

for ME (US!) wearing the baby helped tremendously!
