March 27, 2011 at 10:04 pm #68068AnonymousInactiveThat sounds just like my ds! He take Prevacid 15mg in the am and zantac 2ml at night. Lately, he has been having what seems like severe spasms. I don’t know if it is tummy or lower. It seems to be worse after eating. His reflux seemed better (silent)–less arching and pulling when nursing, now he is not eating some feedings. It is awful! He screams, pulls his legs in and moans/grunts.
He had something similar about 2 weeks ago when I tried to start rice cereal–I stopped that right away and he is only taking breast milk again.
Have you noticed anything that makes it worse for you guys?? We have taken Bethenachol too but his stool was very thin to start with and it didn’t really seem to help. We are now trying Levsin. It helped for a few hours, but he still has a lot of pain if he eats well.
The thing is you see, I have been through this before with my dd 3 yrs ago. She did better after treatment for reflux and is weaning off her meds still now at almost 4 yrs old. I always thought there might be something going on lower than the stomach based on her symptoms, but nothing ever dx.
Love to see if anyone has an answer. I hate seeing my child in pain

give it 2x a day before eating?April 10, 2011 at 3:50 pm #68118AnonymousInactiveMy 3 month old son is waking up in the middle of the night screaming too. Our GI doc thinks it’s a side effect of the Prevacid and told us to try stopping the second dose but then his acid comes back. Has anything helped?

August 11, 2011 at 1:04 pm #68849AnonymousInactiveNow ENROLLING interested participants for an Infant Colic study at DCT’s Dallas Medical City location.
Your child must be between 1 to 4 months old to be considered for the study with a diagnosis of colic.
Colic is not a disease but a pattern of persistent, prolonged crying. Doctors consider it colic if an otherwise healthy infant up to four months old exhibits the following behaviors:
· Loud crying lasting three hours or more for three or more days a week, for at least a week.
· While crying, the baby draws their legs to their abdomen and clenches their hands and curls their toes; their face alternately flushes and pales with the effort of crying.
· Episodes of crying that sometimes begin or end with a bowel movement or the passing of gas.
Qualified participants will receive study-related exams, lab tests, and study medication at no charge. Participants may be compensated for their time and travel.
