When my son Riley was struggling with infant reflux, I can remember being so disappointed that every cute outfit we put him in had to be covered up by a bib.  Even when we finally got his reflux to a point where it was no longer painful, he continued to spit up on a regular basis.  I did not want to have to take a day's worth of outfits every time we went out, so going anywhere without a bib on was out of the question.   Sometimes I would luck up on an outfit with a cute matching bib, but let's face it - it was still a bib.  Bibs are supposed to be for feeding time - not a fashion statement!

I remember thinking then how wonderful it would be to have an outfit with a top layer that could be swapped out when the baby spit up.  No more bibs - just removable layers with cute designs that would be incorporated into the outfit.  But who has time to pursue such ideas when you're only getting a few hours of sleep at night!?

I had given up on the idea long ago, so it was with great surprise and pleasure that I was recently introduced to a new clothing line called Do-Over Clothing.  Michael Simpson, father of two and uncle of a niece with reflux, has made this concept a reality with Do-Over Clothing's new line of onesies with removable top layers.  The top layers are waterproof and backed by a protective plastic that prevents spit-ups from reaching the onesie.  When spit-ups occur, the top layer can be removed and replaced with a new, dry layer.

I have had the opportunity to try out the Do-Over onesies and think that this product will prove to be extremely helpful to those parents who are looking for an alternative to covering up baby's outfits with bibs and multiple outfit changes.

My Do-Over package arrived in perfect condition and was very cutely gift-wrapped.  I asked Mr. Simpson if this was typical packaging for the Do-Over shipments and was pleased to find out that every shipment is sent this way.  This free gift-wrapping makes Do-Over clothing a great choice for baby shower and new baby gifts.

My shipment consisted of one Do-Over base and top with Teddy Bear design and one additional top with Flower design.

My Do-Over Order

The size of the Do-Over I received was a 0-3 months.  Amanda was a little over 2 months old when I tried out the Do-Over on her.  She is not very wide, but is very long - especially in her torso.  She was 23 inches long at her 2 month checkup.  I know sizes differ from brand to brand, so hopefully this will give you an idea on what size Do-Over you should order.

Baby Amanda in her Do-Over!

I washed and dried my Do-Over according to the directions before using it.  I did not notice any obvious shrinking, but they are made of 100% cotton.  The Do-Over material came out unwrinkled and looking brand-new.  I did notice that the plastic backing on the top layer was not as smooth as when first removed from the package.

I found the quality of the Do-Over material to be very durable, yet very soft.  You may notice that there is a fold created in the top layer when your infant is sitting up or in a car seat.  Due to concerns of harmful chemicals in normal vinyl, a safer EVA plastic is used for the backing.  This safer plastic is a little more rigid than normal vinyl so it may cause the top layer to fold when your infant is in certain positions.  I asked Mr. Simpson about this and was assured that the fold does not create any discomfort or hazards.

Snaps are strategically located around the perimeter of the top layer to hold it in place to the base.  Snaps at the bottom of the Do-Over prevent the top layer from rising and covering your baby's face like a bib can.

The Do-Over onesies and top layers are currently available in the following sizes:  0-3 months, 3-6 months, 6-12 months, 12-18 months, and 18-24 months.

The Do-Over is currently only available in the oatmeal color, but additional color options are planned for the future.  The onesie/top layer sets are available with the following choices of embroidered design:  Teddy Bear, Country Cow, and Darling Duck.  Additional tops are available with the following choices of embroidered design:   Teddy Bear, Country Cow, Darling Duck, Flower Girl, Ellie Elephant, Sea Breeze and Sassy Cat.  A Three-Pack Bundle of onesies and  layers is also available and includes one each of the Teddy Bear, Country Cow and Darling Duck design.

We took Amanda out to dinner in her Do-Over onesie and sure enough, she spit up!  But the Do-Over performed as promised and the spit-up did not go through to her onesie.  It stayed completely dry.  All I had to do was change the top layer and she was as good as new!

In summary, the Do-Over Clothing line is perfect for infants with reflux, teething infants, and infants on the go.  Do-Over onesies allow you to keep your infant dry without having to completely change outfits.  They are a safer alternative to bibs which can get tangled around your infant's neck.

Do-Over Clothing is available from the Do-Over website.  The Do-Over website is very simple and easy to use.  The website has a Product Background page, a FAQ page, and a Contact page.  An instructional video on how the Do-Over works is viewable from the homepage.  You can order the Do-Over clothing directly from their site.
