When did you first know something was wrong?

At what age was your baby when you knew something just wasn’t quite right and if you can remember, what was it you noticed? Thanks for your replies.

I voted for both of my refluxers and my oldest son I knew right away something wasn’t right and my second son, I knew at about a week. They both cried a lot, had “colicky behavior”, and wanted to eat all the time. It wasn’t until two weeks I knew with my second son it was reflux. That is when the dry cough started. I can’t remember when I knew with my first, that took me awhile because I had never heard of infant reflux.

for us, it was a couple of months as both boys started showing signs right around their due date…. We might not be a good one for comparison, though because they were so premature…

For Cooper it was 3 wks (actually 19 days) that is when he started spitting up and it would come out of his nose! And his sleep went from bad to horrible almost overnight and he wasn’t gaining weight.

Averi was the perfect baby until 2mths of age. That’s when the large volumes of spit up started, in addition to refusing feeds, arching, and no longer sleeping well. She, overnight, became a totally different baby. I look back and wonder if I missed something in the beginning, but she really was perfect. I’m still puzzled 🙂

Sarah was spitting up and screaming when we were still in the hospital. I remember the nurses bringing her in from the nursery because she was screaming so much. Like I was supposed to know what to do!! Her ped. said the words “acid reflux” to me at 2 days old…but unfortunately she didn’t know how to treat it, so we played the zantac, reglan, compound game for four loooooooooong months. NEXT time I will be much more prepared!

We didn’t “officially” know until Dagney was about 9 weeks old, but had I had a “normal” baby before her, we would have known much sooner, I think. She always would move around a lot when I’d feed her, which I didn’t really think about, until the doc asked me about it and told me it was from discomfort! She also became “colicky” around 3 weeks or so and would be incolsolable for hours in the evening. What made me go to the doc was she still had that crackly sound at 9 weeks, and had a couple of instances where she was gasping for air. Had i known what to look for (like I will with the next) we would have been able to diagnose her much sooner.

For us it was the second day after K was born while still at the hospital. Kendra would spit up every time she nursed,hardly slept and cried a lot.
