Hi,

For those whose baby’s were taking PPI’s 2x/day..When ya’ll weaned your baby off the PPI and you were giving just half the dose, did you still split it up between morning and night? I want to try this with Brianna…she currently gets 1/2 a prevacid solutab in the am and a whole one at night…I have also been giving her zantac (not really the full dose, just some to help with any breakthrough acid) aroung noon. I was thinking about trying to get her down to only 15 mgs but didn’t know if I should split it up in the AM and PM

She is a hard one becuase she is such a happy baby when she is up…the reflux effects her sleep the most…but it has seemed in the past when I have decreased the meds, she has had worse sleep than before…she doesn’t relly spit up much but occasionally I will see the curdy stuff come out of her mouth, but, since she is almost nine months, I would at least like to try and get her on a lower dose.

Myles was getting his three times per day. For the first two weeks I just gave him 1/2 his dose all three times. Then I cut the midday dose. Then I cut his morning dose. Finally after he was fine with just a night time dose for a while, I stopped that one too. Wouldn’t you know the first night without his night time dose he woke up three times? I was panicked but I decided to try one more night in case it was a fluke, and it turns out it was becuase he’s been fine ever since.

Good luck. I hope she does fine like Myles did.

Kaelyn was getting 7.5 in the am and 15 at night. First we cut the night dose to 7.5. After a while, we dropped the morning dose. Then we finally dropped the rest of the night time dose.
