InactiveHow do you know if your baby is intolerant to something? my daughter always seems to have air bubbles in her and I am racking my brain trying to connect it to things I eat…but she has never had skin problems, blood in her stools, or loose stools…

Inactiveyou mean gas?
how old is she?
intolerances in my son=fussiness, crying, gas, mucous in stools, diarhea. (sp?)
laura has a good post somewhere on here about intolerances and food allergies and stuff. i will try to hunt it down.
i think dairy and soywould be the biggest culprits regarding your diet.

InactiveHow old is she? Matthew was always gassy and uncomfortable with food at the beginning. Ped told us to wait it out and we did and he is fine – it takes a while for their systems to adjust to food….
If she is extremely fussy and stops eating or stops sleeping then i would think maybe intolerance

InactiveYou know it isn’t as much gas as burping…she is constantly burping! Even when she burps like a champ after a meal, 2 hours later you can hear her burping again…she does get gas sometimes but that is not nearly as often as just burping…any remedies for that? 🙂 She never really cries, ever hardly…and she has never been a good day napper, but most nights she is in bed by 6:30 and sleeps until 6am…sometimes she will wake up once, but ususally for only 20 min or so. I am off dairy and soy because I noticed when I added those back in she woke up 3x in one night…I never had to go in and get her, she got her self back to sleep, but still I would rather be safe than sorry…we are going to try again when she is 10 months (10/12) but I still for the life of me can’t right out what to do about these burps, they wake her up from her naps and everything, so I wondered if it was something I eat or she does….b’s mom2006-9-6 10:27:37

InactiveI have no idea if this is common or not but I used to take care of a baby whose mom nursed and pumped milk for him and whenever she ate tomatoes or onions the boy burped all day. But in his case it seemed to bother him. My own little guy seemed to be bothered by tomatoes, too. And peppers.
She sure is a great sleeper!

InactiveMy son was the same way, he could only sleep 20-30 min & his burps would wake him up. You could burp him numerous times before you put him down & they would still wake him up. He would wake up screaming & you had to hold him up right for him to get it out. He could never go back to sleep after this. I explained this to the ped & he kept telling me it was not an issue. He thought it might be reflux related but the meds did not help him with this. He told me that I was going to send my son mixed signals about sleeping & picking him up (I still picked him up because he was in so much pain). I even told him that if you did not pick him up he would spit up & end up laying in it and he still said it was not an issue. He was only on formula too! He also had burps and very little gas. He didn’t have any problems sleeping at night either (12-15 hrs without a peep) until he got really sick with reflux & allergies.
Sorry, I never found out what caused this & I totally disagreed with the ped’s answer but it lasted well into his 11th month or so. He still once in a while has a problem with it.

Inactiveyeah I think I am going to be dealing with the burp thing for a while too…but i guess it could be worse…I am going to try and lay off the tom. too as it can’t hurt (and since I can’t have pizza b/c of dairy…what’s the point..haha!) I pick my daughter up too…I don’t care what people say about not doing that…she doesn’t seem any worse for the wear…and ususally I can get her to sleep for a little while in my arms, but the second i put her down, those eyes pop open. She is cute though, I hold her for a while and then when the nap has been on for long enough i put her in the crib…she will cry for like 15 seconds when I leave the room, and then she just starts to play. I ususally let her stay up there for 15 minutes and she will just play and play and not cry..that way I still get some time to myself and she is getting the sleep she needs too! 🙂
But it is good to hear that is did end sometime! Brianna is almost nine months so hopefully she will show some inprovement in the coming months!

InactiveIt’s funny Trevor did the same thing in my arms too. The second I put him down his eyes popped wide open (I wanted to scream).
