How long does it take for the erythromcin to take effect to help with delayed gastric emptying? We just started it today and she actually ate less and fussed more then ever today. How long should I continue it for to see improvements?
It seemed to make a slight difference with Bryce after just a few days, but it really made a difference after a couple of weeks. One thing about Erythromycin, is it can make their tummies cramp a little until they get used to it. That might be why she’s been fussy. I would try it for at least 2 weeks unless it bothers her too much.

Thanks for the response. We did have to stop it since it really made her upset to the point where she wouldn’t even attempt to eat anymore. It really cramped up her tummy so bad, so unfortunately we can’t give it time to work!
I’m sorry, Sue. It’s too bad it made her little tummy hurt. I’ve heard that it can do that. In fact when I took it myself once(as an antibiotic) it was horrible! I remember being doubled over in pain. It hasn’t effected Bryce though. I think he must have an iron-clad stomach.
