My daughter is 17 months old. She was on Prevacid Solu-tabs for 16 months (15 mg a day for 9 of those months, 30mgs a day for three months, then back to 15 mgs). As per the Pediatric GI, we have weaned her off the meds. We tried at 12 months, but she wasn’t ready. I have searched in this post information about the so-called rebound effect, as a result of prolonged use of PPIs, but have not found any information on the subject.
What is the time it typically takes for the rebound effect (overproduction of stomach acids upon the discontinuation of a PPI) to disappear?
Any information on the subject would be greatly appreciated.
