Inactiveokay i took grace for her second gi appmt today int’s been about a month since her last one and since she has started the prevacid. good news she has gained 2 yes 2lbs in month
. i asked the doctor if he could just do allergy test for my peace of mind and he said that there was no deffinite test for allergy. b/c she is not having loose stools that are watery or mucusy he doesn’t believe that she has any allergy. she has SLIGHT exzema that i pointed out to him and he didn’t think that it was anything to be concerned about. he is a very nice doctor but am wondering if he is bypassing all of this stuff only b/c she is gaining weight???i am currently giving her regular enfamil. what do you guys think i should do. try goodstart, nutragin(sp) or just stay on the regular stuff ? i just dont know what to do anymore. she is still refluxing although not with the severe sandifers as often.

Inactivethey can have an intolerance. my son is intolerant to milk and soy, but does not have an allergy, still he requires neocate, otherwise his relux is aggrivated termendously.

InactiveDylan and Carter are both intolerance as well. Dylan can tolerate milk in small doses now (occasional Pizza, etc) but still no soy and Carter can not have either or he is a screaming mess. Dylan tested negative on the allergy test and Carter is still much too young for the testing.
If you think she is still in pain, I might try another formula, but if things are pretty good and she just has a little eczema, I might stick with what you are doing. How does her comfort level seem?

InactiveIf it’s just the eczema you are concerned about, I’d just stay with the Enfamil.
My first two babies used to get eczema from dairy, but it was quite severe. We had to use soy to supplement my breast milk because all of the other standard formulas contain dairy. I think the doc is right…mild eczema is probably nothing to worry about, and I wouldn’t do soy unless absolutely necessary.
If she’s in pain, then I’d consider changing formulas.
Great news about her weight gain.

InactiveWith intolerances, we were told that babies can reach a threashold where after a certain point they will exhibit more uncomfortable symptoms, in other words, it could get worse if this is an intolerance, (or it might stay the same or it might get better…) In our case, my son has severe intolerances, but no formal allergies. We tested him around 20 mos of age and the allergist confirmed that it’s “just” intolerances, although it has made us all miserable for so long!!
