InactiveIts me again, I posted acouple questions a few weeks ago about reflux. I still havent brought my ds to the dr. Im just sooo confused
I mean I read all the posting on here and your babies seem to be alot worse then mine. So I feel stupid bringing my baby in to see the dr when there might not even be anything wrong! His 6 month appointment is coming up here so I will bring it up to them then. I know I worry alot. His burping up is still there. Tonight it was kind a projectile burp up. But he doesnt seem like hes in any pain at all.. He is such a happy baby that burps up alot.. I do have problems feeding him that is getting kinda frustrating. He doesnt eat as much as he useto and he moves around the whole time. I just feel like giving up.. Like in the morning, he sleeps all night so he should be hungry.. Doesnt cry, just sits there until I feed him, he’ll have acouple ounces and thats it!!!! I feel like Im forcing him, and maybe thats why hes burping up.. Hes 6 months and today all he maybe had was 20 ounces and alittle bit of cereal and fruit. Is that normal???? Its just weird cause hes taking only 4 ounces at once lately.. My sil’s kid is 2 months younger then him and is eatting 6 6 ounces bottles!! I just have this feeling something just isnt right, but I worry to much so thats probalby it. DD was a good eatter maybe im not use to this……………Im blabbing nowthanks for reading while I vent.

InactiveFirst of all I’d say that you should go with your mother’s intuition…if you think somethings wrong, then definitely take him to the doctor and discuss it with him.
However, I would not worry about his intake if his weight gain is normal and he is happy. Myles used to only take 15-16 ounces per day (!) and his weight was fine. Some babies just don’t need as much. I used to babysit babies who drank 32 ounces a day, so I thought something was wrong with all of my babies. My first (no reflux) never drank more than 25 ounces. My second averaged 20-22 ounces, and Myles averaged 16 ounces.
My firstborn never wanted her morning bottle either. She just wasn’t hungry in the morning, despite the fact that she slept 12 hours without a feeding.
As for the spitting up, he may be a happy spitter, a baby who spits up a lot but is not in any pain from stomach acid backing up. Most babies spit up at least some and the amount varies greatly between infants.
Go with your gut….but I wouldn’t worry if he’s growing and gainig normally, and he’s happy.

InactiveOh, what I wouldn’t give for a “happy” spitter. No, I get the ones that scream like banshees!!! Feel blessed that he’s not in pain.
One thing they worry about with reflux is if it’s damaging the esophagus. But, if it’s not giving him pain, then you’d think it’s not burning and damaging him.
The other is weight gain as Christine was saying. When he goes for his 6mth, ask what percentile he is for weight. I don’t know if this is good, but I compare Henry’s percentile for how he’s gaining. So, if he gained a pound or two, they may say “he gained weight, yahoo”, but he could’ve dropped percentiles. That’s how I knew we had a big problem with Henry. He was 75% when he was born. By 6mths he was 50% and by 9mths dropped to the 10%. That’s as far as I wanted to let it get. I knew he wasn’t gaining properly. Now that his reflux is under control, he’s back in the 50% and holing steady.
Give us an update after your appt.
