Inactiveok, so when he turns 1 next month, aidan is suposed to go on whole milk, which I’ll slowly mix w/the formula til it’s all milk, unless he’ll just drink it. Anyway, my ? is, I’ve seen (and just got samples of) enfamil 2 (or whatever) which claims whole milk lacks a bunch of stuff that babies need. Is that true? i thought they just went on milk and started poly-vi-sol as their vitamin?

InactiveWhole milk and poly-vi-sol vitamins will give him everything he needs. I think that if he doesn’t eat many solids then you might want to think about staying on formula. We are doing formula until two for Colt but he can’t eat things with soy in them. His food intake is good but its so limited. When he turns one he will get most of his needs from solids. I hope it goes well for you. It will be nice to see some of the babies moving on to milk.

Inactiveoh he’ll eat ANYTHING, but of course there are some he can’t eat. I was just remembering what I did with my first, then I got this sample of enfamil 2 stuff and was like huh? We’re not sure how he’ll do on the milk, his formula has been lacto-free because it’s easier to digest, so I’ve been slowly mixing the regular kind into it, so far no issues. My first never drank milk, still doesn’t really (he was nursed til 2ish).

InactiveI’m still debating whether or not to put Myles on milk now. He’s 13.5 months. I’m so conflicted about it.
If he ate as well as Aidan does I’d probably be more comfortable with it. November 7, 2006 at 2:30 pm #17380Anonymous
Inactiveseriously Austin never drank milk, ever, and he was only nursed past one for nighttime and if he was sick or hurt, not all the time. Honestly it just never occured to me to give him milk
. He drinks it sometiems now, but not really that often, he just ate a lot of cheese and yogurt when he was little, and is healthy (besides the asthma, that’s hereditary) and super smart (I could add the word a$$ to the end of smart but will let that go
) Not that I’m advocating no milk for little ones but just wanted to let you know that he never drank it and was just fine, I just gave him vitamins, and like I said, other dairy sources!November 7, 2006 at 4:36 pm #17388Anonymous
InactiveI know what you’re saying. Liza didn’t like milk until she was 2.5 or even older, but she loved yogurt and cheese. Myles hates cheese. I haven’t tried yogurt yet….I think I will tonight. Thanks.
