InactiveHey,
i currently have shane on alimentum RTF. and i am trying to slowly introduce goodstart. i have started with the powder..but it seems to not stay down very well. soo.. i was wondering if anyone did the RTF,and how to keep it in the refrigerator once its been opened. the alimentum is sooo helpful because it has a top that can twisted on and off… but the goodstart is just cans.. i am not really sure the easiest way to store it.
if any one knows… feel free to share 😉

InactiveI think they sell plastic lids that fit right over the can? Someone jump in here….

InactiveI used to see those lids at Wal-mart but haven’t seen them lately. I’m not sure if they are still making them.
When I use concentrate or RTF I usually put it in rubbermaid bottle/container with a flip top. I’m not sure what they call them, but they come in pint/quart and I think even gallon size and they are made for beverages so they work perfectly.

InactiveWhen we used RTF Nutramigen, we always pre-made all the bottles that we could get out of a can

InactiveWe used to keep an 8-oz avent bottle in the fridge and pour it in there and use it for storage, but our RTF cans are very small here. Do you have big cans there?

Inactiveyep, they are huge… well i think they contain 32 ounces.. or maybe i bit more.. soo than i guess i could pour the rtf into the bottles and keep them in the fridge… does hailey do the RTF?

InactiveI just used to pop two holes with a can opener and then put tinfoil with a rubber band over it. We bought the travel size for when we went out.

thanks though… i am hoping this trial even works( i didnt want to post that i was switching, because i didnt want to than have to post in the “boo hoo” section afterwards
) fingers crossed and praying to God that it works… shanesmom2006-11-14 17:29:22

InactiveAt a pet store, they have a plastic/rubberish lid that snaps over a catfood can. I am fairly positive it will fit that can as well.
Good Luck

InactiveI didn’t go out much with Myles but when I did I used to put his formula or breast milk into a thermos to keep it cold and I would bring an empty bottle, then pour it into the bottle when he was ready to eat and heat it using a auto (car) bottle warmer. It plugs into the 12v power outlet in the car. It worked very well but it wasn’t quick…took about five minutes which is long when the baby is wailing.
If I was only going to be gone for 2 hours or less I’d heat the formula or breast milk and put it into the thermos to keep it warm. (Usually heating it a little warmer than usual because the thermos didn’t keep it at the exact temp…it would cool slightly).
HTH!
