Inactivehi, is it normal for puke to have lots of mucous in it?
shane never pukes , only maybe once a month if so. he is more of a silent refluxer/ small spitter. anyhow, every once in a while i go to burp him and he pukes the ENTIRE bottle right back up, its sooo horrible to watch. well today i was SOAKED of it all over and it was covered with moucous it seemed like. very sticky almost “snotty” mixed in it. is this normal? i know that moucous in the poop is a bad sign, he’s never had that. i know he’s been drooling like crazy, doesnt seem to be teething though. and we also have had him on the powder form of the alimentum this past week to save some $.
ok soo thats his recent backround..
what does everyone think?December 3, 2006 at 6:00 pm #19466Anonymous
InactiveHi Lauren – I don’t know if it’s “normal” but some of Sarah’s spit ups seem really mucously/snotty sometimes too?? I never really thought to question why…I just figured they came from farther down in the stomach. Hope it’s nothing serious!

InactiveI’ve never seen mucous in Myles’ puke but I have seen it a couple of times in the girls…but only when they were sick.
Like Amy said, I hope it’s nothing to worry about.

InactiveSometimes Bryce’s spit up is mucousy like. I don’t think it’s anything to worry about, although I don’t really have an explanation for it. Hopefully someone else knows more about it.

InactiveAlana’s also sometimes looks a bit mucously like (but clear mucous not green), usually when it has been down there a bit longer. This has only been really obvious since around three months when the amount of drool she produced increased exponentially!!! I wonder if it is milk with some swallowed drool?
What was the colour of the mucous? If it is clear I wouldn’t think there was much to worry about. If it were green I’d see Dr- If just a little bit of yellowy green like snot, might be some post nasal drip (this sometimes happens if I put salt drops down Alana’s nose and it goes down her throat!)
If it is bright green, like fluro then you definately need to see a Dr (after all my early visits to ER this was the question they always seemed most interested in asking!)

InactiveI was jsut doing a search on mucousy stools and came up with one on Mucousy puke- that mum said it was her son’s symptom of MSPI?????? I thought that was something interesting to think about.
