InactiveHope everyone had a good night. I’m also not a big fan of New Year’s Eve parties, so we had some of dh’s family over here- had pizza and desert and then did an early fake countdown for the kids. We decorated the house for a party before everyone came over and explained to Sarah about the countdown so she was really excited. The kids gave out party hats and crows to everyone and then Sarah gave everyone a different noisemaker (which was some kind of toy- a shaker, or bells, drumsticks etc) from our music toy collection. Then beforehand we all cut up paper and made confetti to throw at the countdown, followed by a champagne or apple juice toast. Sarah had a blast. Hailey went hysterical when we threw the confetti- I’ve never seen such an expression of sheer horror- but at the end she was in there messing it up with the rest of them (making for an ugly clean up). Afterwards we put the kids to bed and I was asleep by 11:00. DH and I used to go out- back when we had a life of our own- but haven’t done that for many many years.
BTW Laura, I couldn’t help but smile at your post… hearing people talk about Phish reminds me of my university days. (In a good way.)

InactiveLori- I love your idea of the fake countdown for the kids. I wish I would have thought to do something like that for my kids last night.
We didn’t go out either. My husband and I played games with the kids all night until they went to bed, and then we just hung out together the rest of the night & watched the ball drop on TV.

InactiveI love that party idea…I have to remember that when Brianna gets older and stays up past 7pm.
NOthing really big here. My DH father died new years day 4 years ago, so this is a hard holiday for him. We ususally order chinese (his dad’s favorite) and just hang out. Last night was my last time pumping (I had weaned Brianna off that night time feeding about five days ago, but kept pumping at night for a while…just in case) and I wanted to cry, but instead I decided I should celebrate my daughter getting older, so that is what my husband and I toasted too.January 1, 2007 at 9:30 pm #21502Anonymous
InactiveAwww…..
I remember those days. I cried when I stopped pumping, too.
It’s so hard to let go of something so precious; the ability to provide perfect nutrition to our sweet babies. KUDOS for nurisng a full year!
Sorry about dh’s dad.
I thought about the party stuff but the girls saw some of it and played with them at Wal-mart and Myles freaked out screaming. He was scared of the noise makers. So, maybe next year.
