InactiveI know they always say not to, but everyone I know warms bottles in the microwave–as long as you don’t get it too hot & shake it really well to avoid hot spots, you’re fine. I used to warm the Enfamil & Nutramigen in the micro, but I noticed the Neocate says not to heat in microwave. Is there a reason other than fear of hot spots, or is it ok to do that? It would make my life much easier since up until now i’ve been making each bottle individually, which can take a lot more time, especially when your little one decides she wants to eat NOW! The enfamil & nutramigen both had warnings like “don’t heat in microwave to avoid burning”, something of the sort, but the Neocate just says “do not use…microwave to prepare or warm formula”, I was wondering if the micro would do something to the formula itself rather than just chance hot spots.

InactiveI’m thinking it may be that the formula is comprised of amino acids and maybe microwaving them damages them. I’d call the manufacturer to be sure.
If you can’t microwave it, you can maybe try a bottle warmer. I loved the one by The First Years. It was so simple to use and it lasted for all three of my babies.

InactiveI would be really interested in what the company said. There is not such warning on the pepti-junior (which whilst not as broken down as neocate is still broken down) and I have always warmed in the microwave. Do others with alimentum and nutramigen warm in Microwave? Bugger if it is degrading the formula!

InactiveBecause Neocate is an elemental formula you can Not microwave it.

InactiveI’ve mostly just heated the water in the micro, then added the formula, because the container said not to, but a few times I have stuck it in the micro. Time to dust off that bottle warmer I stopped using a while back. I’m interested in exactly what happens if it’s microwaved too.

InactiveI can’t remember where I read this, but supposedly microwaving Neocate can reduce the nutritional quality of it.

InactiveDoes that mean the semi-elemtal formula’s shouldn’t be microwaved either?
