At what point did any of you start to wonder if the formula your kids were on wasn’t really neccessary? Did you just work up the courage to try something different?? After talking to the GI doc and discussing how the hospital just made the huge jump to Neocate from Enfamil after a streak of blood in 2 diapers without trying anything else, and then finding out later she had C difficle -I am begining to doubt she needed Neocate. After being on Neocate for 2-3 weeks she had blood again in her stools..this time in EVERY diaper…that is what finally lead to stool culture and diagnosis of C. Difficle. Of course its a bit different as I don’t have to worry about the taste factor since she is being fed through NG tube. I was just wondering – I actually changed her back 3 days ago and so far no problems – I realize it could take up to 6 weeks but I feel I had to know if it was the C Difficle or the Enfamil….

When my now 13 year old had some blood in a diaper the doctors changed his formula but only for a month and then had be put him back on regular formula. I guess you can look at it like this. At least it was easy on her stomach until she got over being sick. That is what some doctors think and I don’t know if they planned on you keeping her on Neocate or not but it probably did help to heal her faster. I am glad she is doing good on regular formula. I hope she continues do to well. Keep us updated.

well we were on alimentum for a while and i wasnt sure if he needed either.. finally when he turned 7 mos. i tried goodstart and than found out quickly it didnt agree with his system, soo we are on soy now with no problems. but he has been so fussy, but i am drumming it up to his two teeth that are popping through! soooo, i guess you will never know till you switch and i am happy that i did because we are saving some money now;) and i know that he cant have foods with dairy yet but he can have soy. sooo , this way you’ll know and hopefully she will keep doing well!
