InactiveHello! We are on day 6 of a yogurt trial. If all goes well, we are going to transition to Good Start from Alimentum. I have been reading into every little sign from Sarah to see if she is tolerating the yogurt OK…and so far I’d give it a thumbs up.
She went poop yesterday during her nap at daycare and slept in it for 2+ hours before she woke up. When the sitter went to change her, she of course had a diaper rash. This has happened before, not totally unusual.
HOWEVER, since I’m overanalyzing every little thing about Sarah lately…it is possible the rash could be from the yogurt? I guess anything is possible, but is it likely? Her stools have not seemed any different (mucousy) or anything…
I’m so new to all this stuff and I’m terrified that she really IS MSPI and the “whole milk” milestone is just around the corner!

InactiveI don’t know much either
(aka I’m new to all this stuff!) but I would think lying in the poo for that long would be enoough to aggrivate a rash. I would just keep going how you are going. Get rid of the rash and see if it recurs when you start Goodstart.I am so glad she is doing great on her trial. Fingers XXXXXed

InactiveI would assume that the rash in from sitting in poop for so long but if any other signs pop up then I would stop the yogurt all together!

InactiveMyles started with a diaper rash a few days after starting a whole milk trial. I was sure it was probably the milk but it turns out it was teething. Someone on the board mentioned (I posted about the rash too) that teething can sometimes cause diaper rash. He’d never had a rash with his first 14 teeth so I didn’t think it was that but sure enough a few days later he popped a tooth and the rash was gone in a day or two and never came back despite continuing with our dairy trial.
Might she be teething? Also, Myles rarely gets diaper rashes unless he sits in it for a long time. So, it could just be that she slept with a poopy diaper.

InactiveThe rash has cleared up with desitin and we’ve still continued with the yogurt.
I’m hopeful it was just sitting in poo for so long that caused the rash!!! I’m optimisitic about how it’s been going but I’m anxious and VERY nervous about switching formulas. I will probably start to transition her next weekend after she’s had two full weeks on the yogurt…and I can gradually mix in the taste until she accepts it. Eeeeeek! It’s always something!Christine – I guess it’s possible that she’s teething. Heck, anything is possible! She hasn’t acted fussy or anything but then again her 2nd tooth popped in without me even knowing it was coming! I have heard that teething can cause diaper rashes…I’ll keep an eye on it.

InactiveWhen Brianna is teething, she gets these terrible smelling poops that can easily cause diaper rash. These top teeth have been so much worse, that I actaully took her too the Ped to ask them about the rash and do they think it could be caused by the milk. They told me no. Brianna is the type that if she is napping and she poops, well that is the end of that nap, but at night, she will sleep though it. DH told me that the day she got the rash her poops were kind of dried when he wiped them (TMI I know
) so that is why it probably was bad. If it clears up with any type of cream, I wouldn’t be too worried about it. If all else seems good (No fussiness, gassiness or whatever) I would say that you are fine.January 28, 2007 at 1:47 pm #23407Anonymous
Inactiveamy she is doing fine and she is going to do really great with the dairy! dont worry, i think something else would have shown up by now, and a diaper rash is so normal when sitting in it for a little while. sooo , i am so excited for you guys! hopefully soon we will really know for sure;)
