InactiveTaylor has been doing very well once she finally recovered from the Christmas Stomach flu (almost 2 weeks of it!). She started spitting up again? I don’t know what’s going on! Last night there was even some solids from dinner when she spit up! She doesn’t seem bothered by it but I just don’t know why she has started again! She still takes very low volume only about 3 oz over a 20 min period, yes she still doesn’t know how to coordinate a suck, so we still have to bounce on a pilates ball while feeding her!!! so when she spit up always a large amount it is so devastating since it took so long to get her to drink and then it almost all comes up! What do you think could be going on with her? No cold symptoms and it doesn’t look like she is getting any new teeth.

InactiveSue,
I’m so sorry. I know how awful it feels to put so much effort into feeding only to have the feed spit up all over the carpet.
Hailey goes through periods like this. It just seems that her GI system is sensitive to the smallest things… sometimes even environmental changes, upset schedules etc, set her off. Usually her body is trying to fight something off and a virus will emerge a few days later. I hope it passes for her soon.
HUGS.
BTW, what’s pancrecarb MS 4? Who suggested it?

InactiveMy guess is that it’s just one of those ups and downs of reflux. Myles had many ups and downs before he finally outgrew it for good at 9 months, and there was never anything that I could relate it to….no dietary changes, no illnes, no teething. I guess that’s why they call it the reflux roller coaster. It sure is frustrating.
I hope she stops spitting up soon, and I hope she outgrows her reflux for good very soon, too.

InactiveI scheduled an appointment for the Peds MD tomorrow just incase, I’m going to see how she does the rest of the day. I am worried like you mentioned Lori that illness is making its way.
The Pancrecarb MS4 is a disgestive enzyme prescibed by the Peds GI to aide in her digestion of foods since she has the allergies that seem to cause GI problems. He wanted to help metobolize the food to prevent further irritation to her stomach. She use to be very gassy and could not pass it and a lot of problems with bowel movements, since she has been on it all of those issues seemed to have resolved.

InactiveThanks for the info. I’ve never heard of it Sue. Can anyone take it, are there any risks? I wonder if we can get it here. It’s script, not OTC, right?
Is it to help with food intolerances?

InactiveHi Sue,
I’m sorry to hear about Taylor spitting up again.
Could she need her DGE meds increased? (or is she even still on those?) Hope things improve again for you! Good luck at the doctor tomorrow.February 1, 2007 at 2:34 pm #23755Anonymous
InactiveHeather, I was actually thinking that, I’m going see how things go, and most likely restart her reglan.
The Pancrecarb is typically used for Cystic fibrosis children who’s bodies cannot break down and digest fats, starch, and proteins in food. It is usually used in conditions where the pancrea cannot make or does not release enough digestive enzymes into the small intestines to digest foods. The GI feels that with Taylor’s multiple allergies causing GI problems the enzyme would breakdown the proteins, with broken proteins he feels that her system can tolerate the foods much better. She doesn’t have CF or any digestive disorders. He just feels that the enzyme will make food due to the brokendown protiens easier for her to digest. I guess it is equalivent to Good Start formula is suppose to be easier to digest due to its broken down milk proteins but instead it is to help with all of her foods.

InactiveThat’s interesting. I’m going to ask the doc about it.
