Has anyone noticed frequent yawning with their refluxer? My son yawns all day-some are legitimate but often times when he refluxes he opens his mouth and yawns-it is a shorter yawn and not always complete but is defintely noticable by other people, not just his paranoid mother.

Sorry, no haven’t noticed it with Alana. But as soon as I read this post I started yawning myself I hope other mums have some experiences for you.

Hailey yawns a lot during the day. Her sleep is disturbed a lot at night from the reflux, and I don’t think she gets enough episodes of deep sleep, hence all the yawning. How does your son sleep at night?

Another thought- is it possible that it’s not a yawn, but that he’s opening his mouth to try and clear the reflux from his throat. Hailey opens her mouth and smaks her lips a lot when she’s refluxing.

Is it possible your son has an ear infection? I noticed with Colt’s ear infections he will open his mouth alot. I think he is trying to pop his ears. I don’t know but that is what it looks like to me.

My son does not sleep well at night-every night is different though!

I do think he is sleep deprived and his yawns could be legit but I know he is opening his mouth a lot too because of the relfux.

I don’t think he has a ear infection, he was just at the doctor yesterday plus he isn’t crying or tugging on his ear but thanks for the suggestion.
