Someone mentioned trying the oatmeal with flavor to see if Chloe would eat that, I think I saw someone comment on the oatmeal and rice with fruit, but just wondering if she will not take the oatmeal plain, is there any reason not to try the oatmeal with fruit. Would this caues more troubel with her reflux?
I’d read the ingredients carefully and make sure there’s nothing but oatmeal and fruit. I can’t remember if Chloe is MSPI or not. The Gerber cereals have hidden dairy or soy, so the flavored ones probably do to. Does Beechnut make flavored oatmeal cereal?
You could just use regular Beechnut Oatmeal and add some pears for flavor.
I would do what Christine said and take a jar of pureed baby fruit and mix some of it with the oatmeal. You will have control of what flavor and how much to add.
We used to mix baby food bananas and oatmeal into Bryce’s breastmilk. We just put 1/2 tsp. per oz of the bananas. I know some reflux babies can’t handle the bananas, but Bryce did okay on it.
The banana baby food is actually used as a thickener, so you might not even need the cereal. Our OT told us they use it to thicken formula for the little NICU babies.
thanks, i think I may try the beachnut oatmeal and flavor it, when hospitalized they never really said if she had a milk protein allergy, but they cahnged her formula to elecare which is what that it was for. it would be nice info, so that when we do start solids we would know what foods to avoid.
