Thanks for the responses, I really appreciate it. I do have 2 more questions;
1. Right now I have Jack sleeping in his stroller so he is upright-where did your kids sleep and if it was a crib-was it inclined? He sleeps from about 9pm-2am, eats and then goes back for about 2hrs and wakes up uncomfortable-I wonder if axid would help.
2. Did you give the meds 2 or 3 times a day? Right now I am giving 15mgs in AM & 15mgs in evening.
Myles slept in his crib, on his side, with mattress elevated.
He was on three doses of Prevacid. 10 mg / 3 times per day.
There are a few moms here who have had the best results using the PPI during the day and Axid or Zantac at bedtime to control breakthrough acid in the middle of the night, but I think I’d first try the higher dose of Prevacid for two weeks because that may be all he needs.
Justice sleeps in an amby bed during the day and with me at night. I bf him all night long. I got the amby on e-bay. With my first, he slept in car seat, swing, my bed, and elevated crib. I would not recommend the car seat.
Myles was on the solutabs. I gave it to him at 6:30 am, 2 or 2:30 pm, and 7 or 7:30 pm. He was already sleeping through the night when we got him on Prevacid, or at least he wasn’t eating at night anymore. So, I gave him all of his doses during the day which I think is what most moms with older babies do. That’s probably why some babies need an H2 blocker at bedtime as well. If he’s still eating at night I’d probably try giving him a dose at night, but if you’re using solutabs or packets you have to wait that 30 minutes which I imagine would be hard in the middle of the night.
jack is on the solutab so a night dose is out. he is currently sleeping in his stroller-not much difference w/ the movements yet, maybe the extra 15mgs will make a difference.
