InactiveOk……so here’s the quick story….I stopped eating dairy and soy as it seemed Julia was allergic (rashy, gross poops, gas, not sleeping)……sooooo, I decided she was still not sleeping, so I ate some dairy yesterday (pizza…mmmmmm….and cream in my coffee) she was spitting up all day all over the place (she usually never spits up)>………but last night she actually slept for 6 1/2 hrs!!! that’s soooo much better than the 2 I’m used too! Of course, my hubby said too many factors are involved, because she does have a cold….but I was expecting to be up all night with her because of that!!!!!
Any idea’s???? Should I keep off of the dairy? Or should I get some sleep???????

InactiveI wish I could tell you that the dairy made her sleep better, but it seems unlikely to me. Sorry. I’m guessing the cold is making her sleepy. My children sometimes sleep better with a cold because it runs them down and they need the rest.
How long did you avoid dairy? I think most moms here say you should stick with it at least two weeks (maybe three) because it can take that long for offending proteins to be purged from your body and her’s.
Good luck. I hope you get lots more sleep.

InactiveHi – I used to come on this board a long time ago but just returned to look up a reference. Anyway, md DD was MSPI and had reflux. The MSPI effected her sleep patterns to the point that we were up some night every 45 minutes. I can see that since your DD got a rash you’ve already figured out that dairy wasn’t the reason she was sleeping. MSPI can be SO tricky because the proteins take approx. three – seven days to build up in the baby’s system. My daughter actually had multiple protein issues and it was craziness to figure out what foods were the problem. Sometimes you can intro a food like milk – spitting up will be the first reaction (like what happened here) but sleep will be good because the proteins antigens have not built up to an intolerable level quite yet. Soooo – long story short, symptoms gradually increase over time, I found spitting up to occur first, rashes & tummy upset next, sleeplessness usually set in 24 -72 hours after the offending protein was introed. Irritability and extreme sleeplessness usually occurred after a three day period if the offending protein was still being introduced.
My best advice would be to keep a log of all foods if your not already. So sorry you have to deal with it, takes a lot of patience and its tiring.
Best of luck – Liz
