InactiveHi everyone,
I was wondering if any of you do scrapbooking? Is that one word?

I always wanted to do scrapbooking but I never had enough time with two reflux babies. So, I’m 5 years behind (YIKES!), but I’d like to start now.
Anyway, I was invited to a Creative Memories workshop. Have any of you done it that way? What do you think of them? Is it be cheaper to do it on your own? If so, where do you buy your scrapbooking products? (I live in a small town, so an online store would be best for me).
Thanks!

InactiveHi Christine, I used to attend ‘crops’ once a month sponsored by a CM consultant when I was pg. with Seth. I was making a pregnancy scrapbook. It was beneficial to me to go to the workshops/crops because I was just starting out and had no idea what to do or how to get started. I think their products are great but can be a little $$$. I think now if I could find time, I could buy the products myself at stores (Michaels and other craft stores carry a good selection and I’ve even seen stuff at Target) and work from home but if you are just getting into it, CM is a good place to start (just take your checkbook!
) and usually makes for a fun time too. You can check out their website to see what their products look like and how much they cost. Your workshop is probably where you are going to make 1 page from pics you bring for $10 or so but then they will try to get you to buy an album and other accessories (but you can always decline). I ended up going on bedrest the last part of my pg. so I never finished the scrapbook I started and needless to say, have not found the time to start his baby book. I think I am going to be one of these that are working on baby books when the child is in kindergarten. I was just thinking the other day, I’d like to try to get into it again. I’m afraid I am going to forget when certain pics were taken, etc.!

InactiveI love scrapbooking, but haven’t had much time for it since Isaac was a baby. I haven’t done Creative Memories, so I don’t know much about them.
As for online scrapbook supplies, I love http://superscrapbooksupplies.com One reason I like it is because you can buy single pages if you want rather than just themed kits (which they have too). Good prices too.
I also buy from the local craft or scrapbooking stores sometimes. (I think Utah is the scrapbooking capitol of the world
) There’s pretty much a scrapbooking store on every block – even in small towns.
Good luck and have fun!

InactiveThanks ladies!

Tiffany,
I’ve been meaning to work on scrapbooks since Liza was born and I’m just starting now, so you’re way ahead of me. I’ve got 11 photo boxes full of pictures of all three kids, so I’ve got my work cut out for me. Fortunately I’m a good labeler so they’re all dated and in order. You should start putting pics in order and labeling them before he gets too much older or you have three like me!!

Lauren,
If you’ve got Shane’s birth scrap booked, you’re way ahead of me! I’m not the creative type, so I do think it’s going to be hard for me. That’s probably part of the reason I’ve put it off so long.

Heather,
Thanks for the link! I’m 100 miles from Michaels or any other craft store, so this will help alot. I like that you can buy single pages, and hopefully it’s cheaper than CM’s stuff. I will definitely check it out.

InactiveChristine – Are you closer to a Wal Mart? They have a pretty good selection of scrap book things if you’re just getting started. I am making a 1st year book for Sarah and I’m only 2 months behind…not too bad I guess. It is time consuming, and you need to have a good place to work and spread everything out (space is an issue in my house). It’s relaxing for me though and the finished product will be something our kiddos can have forever! While you’re waiting for scrapbook items from online or until you have time to shop…you could start by organizing all of their pictures. Are you going to do one book for each of them or one book of all of them? If you get pictures lumped together (bath time, sleeping, birthdays, playing, eating, outings, etc…) then you’ll have a head start when it comes to creating a page. Good luck and have fun!!!!!

Here is another great site. Not only can you purchase items but you can look at their gallery for great ideas.

InactiveThanks Amy,
I have been organizing all their photos. Fortunately I do have them in date order in photo boxes so that helps, but I’m just starting now so I feel somewhat overwhelmed.
I want to make a “birth to one year” book for each of them, then a “Age 1 – 5” book for each of them. I have looked at Walmart but we have a small walmart so I don’t think we have quite the selection as other larger cities, but they do have some nice things – not very much paper though – lots of stickers, kits, tools….Jenay,
Thanks for the link. I spent $70 at the workshop today!
Hopefully I can find cheaper stuff online.

InactiveThanks, Jenay!
I dreamed about my scrapbook all night last night.
I hate two of the pages I made and I’m trying to figure out how to fix them. UGH….maybe scrap booking isn’t for me. It’s too stressful for a perfectionist.

InactiveYou sound like me!!! I am such a perfectionist about her scrapbook. Sometimes it takes me several hours just to complete 1 or 2 pages!!!
February 25, 2007 at 2:31 pm #25785Anonymous
InactiveI know what you mean. I worked for 7 hours and completed 8 pages. I only have about 500 pages to go!!!

InactiveI know how you feel Christine.
I’m pretty artistic, but I can’t do my artwork very often. It stresses me out because I’m too much of a perfectionist!

InactiveUh, oh…maybe there’s a link between perfectionism and reflux!
