InactiveI have given Noah mashed potatoes and gravy 4 or 5 times in the last 3 months. He ususally was really reluctant to eat them, but I always managed to get 3 or 4 bites in him. Last night I tried and he ate 6 or 7 pretty good bites and seemed to like it. Within 2 minutes of giving him the potatos, his immediately threw up. This has also happened the other times I have given him mashed potatoes. He always vomits within minutes of eating them. Is it possible that he might be allergic to potatos? I’ve never heard of anyone having issues with potatos, but I cant figure out why he would get sick everytime I get a little in him. I gave him some gravy today to see if that might be the culprit, and he was fine. So it must be the potatoes???

InactiveLisa, we have had similar problems with potatoes. I keep thinking, is this possible, they’re so mild, but you’re not alone.

InactiveI think it’s the consistency. I think they take more work to swallow because of the texture. Is he fine after he throws up?

InactiveHe’s fine after he throws up. I make it really thin by using gravy so its easy for him swallow. He doesnt really move food around his mouth, so everything I give him is pretty thin in texture. I thought it might be the gravy causing the problem, but he did fine with gravy today.

InactiveLisa, I dont like too much of potatoes myself. Incase I eat them in good amount, I puke. I was always wondering about this and recently I read an old post by a member (I can’t recall the name..but you can do a search on it) regarding food and blood type. It was a new topic for me too and it goes on to say that few foods are not tolerated by particular blood group. Iam not following bloodgroup related foods..but, I just thought its an interesting topic. I might get into details once my dd is doing better and I have some mind left for researching…

InactiveTyler did the same thing with sweet potato but is ok with regular potato. He also vomits when the texture is too rough. Allergies can make them vomit pretty much straight away so if it happens everytime with potato then I would be suspicious.

InactiveSangeetha – I thinkm I remember that old topic. It discussed books about eating right for your blood type. I remember it being very interesting also.
