InactiveI’m trying to figure out what is up with Adriana. She has started solids and loves them, But recently she has not been wanting her bottles. She takes 5 a day and will eat some of them good but not the others. It reminds me of when her reflux was bad. Sometimes she will only eat the solids and refuses the bottle. I tried giving it to her before the solids too. She is also teething and I don’t know if that is it. I am just worried that she is not getting enough formula that she needs. She has been arching too, I think. Sometimes it’s hard to tell if she is just looking at something and not arching. Once she drank her bottle while her head was arched to the left, it was weird.

Inactivehmm i know when shane was teething he ate soo much solids and didnt really want his bottle unless it was the middle of the night and he was soo thirsty from having none for the day. but the arching throws me off.. i know shane never arched.. soo i guess if its arching her reflux could be getting worse as well.. i have heard that teething can cause the reflux to get worse..
you can try mylanta before a bottle and see if she will drink it better.. i tried that with shane and it didnt help soo i knew it wasnt reflux pain.

InactiveThe arching is a sign that the reflux is acting up. Hard to tell, of course, b/c it could be teething as well. Hailey was worse when cutting a tooth with the bottle. Can you spoon feed her some formula or a bit of another liquid to make sure she’s well hydrated? Does she do a sippy cup or a straw cup? I might also consider that she might need the prevacid increased. Good luck.

InactiveHer dose is pretty low. And the arching definitely sounds like reflux. Myles didn’t eat well when he was teething, but he only arched when it was reflux.
Mylanta before a feeding may help…and if it does help it would be a good indicator that it’s reflux that’s bothering her.
Like Lori suggested, when Myles was not drinking much I’d add formula or breast milk to his baby foods and/or spoon feed him straight formula or breast milk to keep him hydrated.

InactiveThanks, I’ll try the Mylanta and see if that helps.

InactiveDagney is about 2 weeks older than Adriana, and I was having exactly the same problems with her about 3-4 weeks ago. If Adriana is really arching, then it may be the reflux. I found, however, that Dagney was more looking around than arching, and she likes to lie on our laps and hang her head back and look around at everything
. She was teething too, not as interested in the bottles, and then last week I started cereal on a spoon. She was taking 5 bottles/day, but the 2nd & 4th she wasn’t drinking as much out of. I also noticed that when I’d feed her the cereal, she’d eat it well and really bite down on the spoon, but the bottles must not feel as good on the teeth, so they’re not as inclined to keep them in their mouths if they’re not really hungry. I realized that maybe she was ready to consolidate to 4 bottles/day, so I did that at the end of last week, and that seems to have helped. She isn’t really taking in any less formula, but now we’re going 4-5 hours between the first & 2nd bottle rather than 3-4, and that seems to be what she needed. The rest of the day we still go 3-4 hours between, which seems to work for her (she’s always eaten more often towards the afternoon/evening, storing up for the long night!)Hope this helps, and good luck!
