Inactivei feel like shanes morning nap is being pushed off until like 11! probably even later if i let him..
if he wakes up at 7.. i will lay him back down at 10.. he will play forever in his crib! and than falls asleep at like 10:30-10:45.. and will only sleep for 30 min.! his morning nap has usually been the longer one..and his afternoon one his short..
and when he used to wake up at the 30 min. mark..he would cry and thats how i knew he wasnt ready to get up.. BUT NOW he just sits up and plays.. soo i feel like i put him down too early and he wasnt tired enough to keep sleeping! than he is soo tired by his afternoon nap that he has been extending that one to and hour or so..
soooo…. i guess my question is..what times do you put your children down that are around shanes age?? when do they normally push off their morning nap??

Inactivea pediatrician on montel the other day said babies need 2 naps a day until about 15 months old.
i just put my son down whenever he is tired-usually 4 hour intervals.

InactiveI think all babies are different. Carter still needs two naps a day (a short morning and short afternoon nap), but Dylan gave up the morning nap and did a mid day nap around 11 months old. We we hold him off until around noon (try to feed him lunch early) or if he was too tired, we would put him down a little earlier, and feed him a later lunch and a light dinner before bed.
I would try holding him off until after lunch and do lunch around 11 or 11:30 and then you might get one big nap.
My children go to bed pretty early: Carter at 6:15 and Dylan around 7:30 or 8…. I think bedtime plays a factor as well….

Inactivewell like today.. it was 11:00 and he started to get cranky.. soo i put him down and he fell asleep around 11:15 and than was up at 12:15! ugh.. i am not sure if i could get lunch in and try to prolong it… i’ll see tomorrow..
i am just upset because i am going away for 4 days.. and my mil and mom have him.. and i dont really know what to tell them! i guess i will say put him down whenever you think he’s tired!!!
he goes to bed at like 7ish until 7ish.. soo i think that part is fine..

InactiveBrianna was kind of like Shane…she started going down later and later for that morning nap…but she would still sleep for 1.5 hrs or so and then her pm nap was short! (30 mins)….Then she started going down so late for her am nap (11am) that she would wake up in an hour and not go back to sleep becuase she was hungry…that is when I decided to get her to one nap a day. In the beginning she was eating lunch at like 11am, becuase to stay up until noon was a lot for her, but now it vaires from day to day. If she sleeps in late, she might not nap until 1 or so. On the other hand, there have been a few days where i have had things at church in the AM, and she has fallen asleep there for like 20 mins in the AM and still seems to sleep well in the PM. I don’t think really any pediatrician can give you a magic age for one nap vs. two….every baby is different. My friend’s child always too two two hour naps from almost the beginning and still slept 11-12 hrs at night…until she was at least 18 months old. NOw she naps from 1-4 everyday! So really it just depends. When do you leave? Maybe try the one nap for the next few days and see if it works, if not then you can keep him on two naps at least until you get back.

InactiveEvery child is certainly different. My daughter took 3 naps until she was almost 7 months old and then 2 naps (1 1/2 hrs. each) until she was almost 18 months old. For her, the morning nap was always the longer one and she continued to go down for that one, but I knew it was time to combine the two when she wouldn’t go to sleep for her afternoon one.. She would just play in her crib for almost an hour before going to sleep.
Now Ben…. well, I can hardly get that kid to take 1 decent one, let alone 2.

InactiveIsaac really enjoyed his sleep so he was still napping 2-3 times a day a few hours each time. He just started napping around 11 (used to be 9am) and is usually asleep for 2hours
