My car has the rear side curtain air bags. Does anyone know if it is safe to have the child seat next to these? We currently have Seth in the middle but were thinking of moving him. I know the front airbags are dangerous to a child but can’t find much about these.

My dh’s car has these and I was concerned too but he said they fall straight down, they don’t expand outwards like airbags do.

What kind of car is it? Maybe you can try to contact the manufacturer and ask them (I know…easier said than done!), or check the carseat clinics in your area.

I have a 2005 Honda Accord. We researched it at the time and it was rated as one of the safest family sedans. I didn’t think I needed a minivan with just one child but now I wish I would have went ahead and got an Odyessy or Toyota Sienna. Seth hates the car and always wants to ride in ‘daddy’s big truck’ (SUV) which I hate driving because it handles liek a truck not a car. I think the van would be nice so Seth could see out (which is why he likes the SUV) and to have more room but it would be more car like. We just got back from vacation and moved the DVD palyer we bought into the car and we thought he could see it better if he was on the side but I think for now we will just leave him in the middle.

Anyway, I think Christine is right that the airbags will implode? above his head. There are not any warning stickers for them like in the front seat. Dh is suppossed to be trying to find out more.
