We say an allergist for Kaelyn. We actually had a basic RAST test done for the “big eight” allergens before we went to the allergist and then he did skin prick testing.
With Alex, we just had a “comprehensive” food blood test done. Our ped ordered it from a blood work company that is new in town and offers more extensive types of testing than Labcorp (the previous company). So… it is possible for your ped to order a RAST test and have it be effective. However, if you have many concerns, you will end wanting to see an allergist anyway. We just found that it was nice for the allergist to already have some idea of what was going on right from the beginning.
