InactiveHi Rachel! Welcome to the site, sorry to hear that you’re going through the ins and outs of reflux with your little one. I hope that the prevacid helps her. What kind of dose did your doctor put her on? Also, how many doses a day are you giving? Some moms have found that giving at least 2 doses a day helps to keep them better covered.
As for the formula, if she’s having trouble with nutramigen, I’d consider giving neocate a try. My understanding of nutramigen vs. alimentum was that they were pretty similar.
Good luck. Hope things turn around for her soon.

Inactiveummm…. she takes half a 15mg solutab a day(so about 7.5mg a day?). Thats what he wanted to start with see if she has cramping n such. So far after she had it last night she did great only spit up once! Today she had a little cramping though but didn’t last long. I’m trying to give it to her around 5-6pm cause she normally only she has the issues with reflux later around 7. He said he would call (gi doc) after a few days to see how things are going with it.
The few spit ups she had today were kinda thicker than normal? More “curdeled” looking?! But I am hoping things improve more over time like everyone I have read says!!
You ladies are so nice here…so glad I found this board…once I get more time I’ll have to posy on the introduce area!

Inactivewell remember that PPI’s dont stop the spit up…..they help stop acid production so that when they do spit up, it doesnt hurt. is she in pain during/after feedings?
good luck with the solutabs. you may end up needing a higher dose. my son was started on 24 mg at 3 months.

InactiveHi Rachel.
Glad to hear that she’s doing well on the solutabs. They can take up to 2 weeks to see a full effect. I don’t know how much she weighs, but her dose is probably on the lower side (most docs dose on the lower side, it seems), so if she doesn’t get relief then you can always ask to go higher. Also, I can’t remember if this was already said, but the best way to give a solutab is to try and give it on an empty stomach followed up with a “meal” 30 minutes later. The meal helps to activate the drug.
Does she generally seem to be bothered by the spitting up or in pain? How does she feed? What’s her temperament like in general? Those are often good indicators to see how well the PPI is working. It usually doesn’t really do much to reduce spitting (since it’s made to stop acid production).
I don’t know much about the curdled spit up (sorry, I can’t remember that far back). Hopefully someone else will post.
Good luck. Keep us posted.

InactiveYes, I read here about how to give them so she takes it 30-45mins before she eats anything about about 2 hours after she last had something. She is at 17 pounds (my chunky monkey hehe) The dose is a little low but she already seems a bit better. She is not bothered by the spit up…though she never really was (happy spitter?) She is eating better now though with the evening feedings, no more fussing and arching anymore. I know it doesn’t really help the spitting up but it kinda has? Maybe since she doesn’t have so much acid? She is also not drooling as much either.
So, so far so good!

InactiveRachel, it did the same thing for my daughter. Glad to hear it’s helping and that she’s feeding better.
