InactiveDAY 1
Well, I officially started today. The first step was getting on the scale and seeing how bad things had really gotten. I’d been avoiding it because I didn’t want to see how high the numbers were, but I decided that I needed a dose of reality if I was finally going to start this. So after the HORROR of that experience, I decided that I would start today. Ideally, I’d like to lost 30 pounds, feel better about myself, and have more energy.
I did 60 minutes on the recumbent bike, some sit ups (not the real kind), and some leg lifts.
For breakfast I had an oatmeal with some raisins, for lunch a salad with cheese and a bowl of cabbage soup, for snack a handful of dry fibre cereal. And two glasses of water.
It’s been hard, but I’m hoping that it gets easier once the withdrawal cravings pass.
My plan is:
1) exercise on all my days off work for at least 30 minutes (that’s 2 times a week)
2) cut out all sugar snacks for as long as possible
3) avoid snacking between meals
4) eat smaller portions more slowly
I thought that since our other thread was getting long, that it might be a good thing for me to keep this thread as my personal log of my progress, successes, and failures. That way I can track my progress, and I feel more accountable to myself if I have to let everyone see it. If anyone is offended by me doing that, I’ll remove the thread. But if anyone else wants to start their own thread too, that would be great! It would help me to feel like I had a virtual buddy to go through the process with!

InactiveI don’t know that I deserve all the praise…
I did well with the exercise part, but then when it came to dinner, I found that I was snacking a bit on the kid’s dessert. It’s very hard b/c we have to feed Hailey a high calorie, high fat diet, and here I am munching on greens.
I’m hoping that these cravings get easier…. today’s been really hard.

InactiveYou did great on your first day!!! 60 min of exercise is a LOT! Don’t be to hard on yourself if you have slip ups iwth the eating. That is where I see most people having problems…they eat one cookie and then they get so mad at themselves for doing it that they figure they blew it and then the eat a whole box. Good luck!

InactiveThanks Emily.
Here’s how today went:
Day 2- Exercised 60 minutes on the bike. Did back extensions (not sit ups) b/c the situps from yesterday aggravated my bulging disk in my back which I guess is still more acute then I thought.
For breakfast, had a pack of oatmeal with raisins, for lunch a bowl of cabbage soup and a salad with chicken. That’s it so far- it’s 3pm here.
I’m feeling pretty good about today.
