InactiveI used to post her regularly, but I have not been around for a long time. I am involved with another message board and became a moderator there and just did not have to time to keep up with both boards and my busy little guy! I still pop in from time to time to see how all the little ones are doing. I thought I would post an update for anyone who may remember me.
Sebastian is now 16 months old and has been off Prevacid for almost 2 months!!!
He is still not officially reflux free. He has good and bad days, but he is able to get by with Zantac and Mylanta as needed. unfortunately he stills has a lot of problems with food allergies/intolerance. He is still on Nutramigen and has failed several dairy and soy trials. He has also reacted to corn and a variety of other foods. We saw an allergist, but he was no help and was very dismissive of our concerns.
We are just going with trial and error for now. He is a picky eater too, so it is hard to get him to eat a balanced diet, but we are getting by with some staple foods. He just does not have much variety. He has some issues with eating. He does not chew his food. He will swallow it whole (it is amazing what he can get down without choking!) Or suck on it until it is soft enough to swallow. He is going to be getting an OT assessment from Early On to determine if it is something we should be worried about and if he needs any services.
My big news is that we had another baby. Emma Catharine was born on March 24. So far things are going well, but of course I am a nervous wreak about reflux. She is having some problems with gas, poor nighttime sleeping, rattly breathing and choking and gagging while nursing. I think, and hope, that it is due to overactive letdown rather then reflux. She has episodes where she is really uncomfortable, but then at other times she is fine and will nurse peacefully. I am working at getting my milk under control and have cut out milk and soy. Hopefully this will help and she will start sleeping better. Sebastian is very active, so it is hard to keep up with him on only 3 or 4 hours of sleep a night!

Inactivehi! we are also struggling with intolerances. just recently, found out Trace cant handle wheat/gluten. so we are now officialy milk/soy/wheat/gluten free. its a challenge, and he is a picky eater also.
im glad that your son doesnt need his prevacid…we are awaiting that day!
good luck with the little one. hopefully its not reflux that is her issue.

InactiveSory, I forgot the pics. The first ones are from the hospital and the second ones my sister-in-law sent me. They are of my niece, nephew and borther, with the kids.

InactiveCongrats on your new baby! Post pictures when you can. Sorry about the continued struggle with food intolerances, but my GI said that most babies do outgrow them, so hopefully yours will soon too!

InactiveHi Katey! Congratulations on your little girl! She’s beautiful. I hope that the feeding issues get resolved for Sebastian. Hang in there… I know it can be hard having two so close together in the early months, but it’s amazing as they get older. HUGS.

InactiveHi Katey,
Thanks for the update, and congratulations on your new baby girl. She’s beautiful! She looks like her big brother.

I’m happy to hear that Sebastian is med free and I hope he outgrows his intolerances soon.
I hope things settle down with Emma and that it’s not reflux.

InactiveCongrats! Alexis had the same problems eating. We worked with Speech therapy to help to chew. She use to do the same thing, sometimes she still chipmunks her food especially things that she really does not like. She is almost 3 and still very picky, refuses all meats and veggies and almost all fruits! She is finally willing to take a little bit of new things which is a big accomplishment. Good luck! We had speech therapy via Early interventions as well! Good Luck! Definitely get them in early on, she did not qualify until she was 2 years old mostly due to speech. We had her evaluated at 1 y/o but that day she decided to chew a little so she did not qualify.
