InactiveAnyone have any idea how long it takes for a baby to poo the food s/he has eaten? Ben has had some REALLY loose stools the last two evenings, and I’m trying to figure out what is causing them. I gave him prunes (about 1/2 stage one container) yesterday morning because his stools the day before were very formed (not dry though) and he seemed to struggle to get them out.
Anyway, last evening, his diaper was DISGUSTING – out the diaper, down the leg, YECK. I wouldn’t say it was diarrhea, not watery anyway, but very runny.
Today, I skipped the prunes and gave him peaches instead (for the first time), and again the nasty poo in the late afternoon.
Is it safe to assume that the pm poo is from his morning meal, or could it be from earlier/later? Maybe something he ate the day before or even from lunchtime???

InactiveThis is not from scientific knowledge…just what i have observed. Brianna has a bad habit of not chewing her blueberries. When we give them to her at dinner (6:30) we often see them in her AM poop )usually around 7ish) so I would say about 12 hrs as a guesstimate.

Inactiveshane too! he has blueberries yesterday morning..and than around 3ish.. he pooped and they were in there!! haha. thats never happened before… so i was freaked out for a sec.
i personally think the poo’s are EVERYTHING from the last time they went poo ? like if he went when he woke up in the morning.. everything he ate afterwards would be in his neck diaper. atleast thats what i always thought.

InactiveI would guess about 12 hours too but I am not sure. Addy ate some dehydrated apples one day and the next morning, there they were!

InactiveNaomi,
I remember our older boys having runny bms if I gave them prunes. I know each child is different, but ours definitely had fiber overload with prunes! Even if they were a little constipated, and I gave them just a little bit, it always worked TOO well

I don’t know the answer on the timing of the bms though. I guess it could have been the peaches too?

Maybe, Lauren, it’s one of those nasty poos that leaks out of the diaper and shoots up their back all the way to the neck? We’ve had some of those too. YECK!
