My 6 month old son is only taking – well Alimentum right now – but will be switching back to breastmilk soon and he seems so interested in eating/drinking other things but can’t right now because of food sensitivites… Does anyone know if it is safe to give a 6 m/o water out of a bottle or sippy cup occasionally? And, does anyone have any suggestions for what type of sippy cup is good, I think we would like to try one with Chase.
I think introducing a sippy cup is a good idea and IMO water is fine at that age (not a lot of water every day but a few sips out of a sippy cup are fine bc it will take him awhile to get the hang of it). We loved the NUBY cups at that age bc the nipples are soft like a bottle nipple and it seemed to be an easier transition. Good luck!
I think it’s fine too as long as it’s only a few ounces per day. My son learned first on a straw cup. It took him much longer to learn how to use a sippy.
six months was when my Ped wanted me to start Brianna on a sippy as well. It took until she was almost 11 months to really get good at it, so I was glad I started early…it made the transition from BF to milk much easier.
