InactiveHas anyone’s child suddenly developed an intolerance to Neocate? If so, where did you go from there? My daughter is a little over 22 months & has been on Neocate since she’s about 6 months old. First Neocate Infant, then Neocate Junior.
I’ve been given suggestions of a fundoplication & a g-j tube, but truly feel the first thing we should assess is her tolerance to Neocate, since I gave her Pedialyte through the night last night & she had a GREAT night! Switching formula would be the first, most painless thing to do before knocking the poor kid out for procedures.
Thanks!

InactiveWhat kind of symptoms is she having that make you think she may be becoming intolerant of Neocate? Maybe people may have more suggestions if they know her symptoms. I know some babes have had a reaction to the corn in it, but I would think that would have shown up much earlier. What else is in her diet? Anything new?

Inactivei have heard many babies do well on neocate infant but cant handle the neocate jr. maybe she needs to go back on infant-but a higher calorie concentration?

InactiveLike Natalia, I have heard that as well about the Jr. My dd is 15 1/2 months and soley on Neocate except for an organic cheerio here and there. Our doc recommended uping the calorie concentration before we try to switch to anything else since her system is so immature and “messes up” so easily.
What were the symptoms that concern you?

InactiveShe’s been wet burping almost constantly. She couldn’t hold anything down yesterday, so I gave her mostly Pedialyte with a small amt. of Neocate in it during her continuous overnight feed & for the first night in a long time, she didn’t have any gagging & retching, vomiting, or wet burps. In fact, she wasn’t tossing & turning as much, either. There have been no changes whatsoever in her diet in over 8 months. She’s had baby food in the past (when she was allowed to eat by mouth), so I know what foods she’s able to tolerate. To test things out, I took baby food & watered it down to be fed thru her feeding tube & she didn’t wet burp any of it. At her next feed, I gave her Neocate & she wet burped 4 times in the first hour.
She was switched from Neocate Infant to Neocate Jr. last July & has been doing well with it.

InactiveThere was a mom on this board whose baby could not tolerate Neocate. I think it was Zale66 – Yes, here’s one of her last posts where she talks about making her own rice formula. She doesn’t post anymore but maybe someone on the board knows her email and can contact her for you.
